Is Windows 7 new or obsolete? My new modem lacke several features. No spell check,delete,send & recieve,etc.

Windows 7 is pretty new, spell check, send and recieve are usually associated with applications such as e-mail and word proccessing programs, like MS-Word and not modems
 
Ya Windows 7 came out in July 2009, with it being in release candidate form (you can download and try it for free) for 1 year prior to that. Like scary said, spell check, delete, send etc has more to do with software than the operating system.

Are you talking about outlook?

Hey Alan, your modem is the small box that allows you to connect to the internet. It, Windows and the spell-check/send/receive are three separate things that have nothing to do with each other really.
I'm guessing you're using MS Office Express for your email? If so then let us know and we can go from there with figuring out why the spell-check and send/receive buttons are either not displayed or not working in Outlook Express, or whatever email application you're using. Usually it's just a case of customizing your email options to add or remove buttons such as the ones you're apparently missing.
 
Might be a typo by uncle Alan? Perhaps he meant "My new modeL lackS several features" as opposed to "modem"?

Did you get a new computer with Windows 7 on it uncle Alan?
