As a Mac fan, I always hate to use a PC, but all the computers where I teach are Windows machines. We are running XP, which is fine, and they are way better than they were with 98 or whatever, but every little thing seems to have to be so damn hard.

For example, I wanted to show a DVD snippet in my class today. On my Mac, any Mac, I pop the DVD in, it plays. On Windows, it requires downloads, paying for some codec, etc etc etc. What a crock. Blech.:barf:

Never had that problem with a commercially produced DVD on Windows. If you made it yourself on a mac, then yes, the other macs come with that codec too. If you made it on a PC, then yes, the other PCs would likely have that codec as well. If you made in one platform to play on another platform, you often have codec issues regardless of the OS you try to play it on.
