Hey everyone, I got my hands on a huge bag of wine bottle corks, mostly all the same size. I was thinking they could be used to make something but I'm not exactly sure what just yet. Does anyone out there use cork to make anything or know of any cool projects or stuff to make involving cork. Obviously I'd like it to be useful for camping, or bushcraft or being in the outdoors somehow.
Thank you in advance for any help you might have for me.

I used a wine cork, and a .300 winmag casing, and made a pipe tamper. Sorry, no pics. I'm at work, but it was a champagne style cork with a round head, cut off the bulb & used the round head as a ball handle. I then twisted the casing (bullet end first) into the cork until I was past the neck. Makes a great pipe tamper & looks downright cool.

edited to add. I understand there's all kinds of wine cork projects on pinterest. Check 'em out.

I have a small display case for my prettier knifes, I cut halfway into the side of a cork with each knife so that it will stand.on its.cutting edge, if this doesn't make sense let me know, I'll take pica.

They work well for protecting fingers from fillet knife tips in knife drawers. Schrade used to ship theirs corked in the box.

  • Framed, they make pretty neat pin-up boards.
  • Again, framed but smaller and you have a hot pot stand.
  • Four to six - 2" - 3" long screws through 4 - 6 corks, lengthwise, then screw thise into pre-drilled board of 1 x 2 at the same upward angle makes a neat rustic coat rack for a cabin or treehouse.
  • drilled lengthwise as floats for expensive eyewear while fishing.
  • Soundproofing for a bushcrafty recording studio. Whatever that is.

slice em half lengthways and glued on a piece of ply for a pin board.

If cork, burn one end and use the char to camo up your face with the black. Drill a hole down the middle and use for a fishing float. Use it to keep your sewing pins and needles in. Use as holder for your fishing flies. Shape to fit hollow bones and use as a stopper container.

I store loose beater twist drill bits by drilling them into corks. It keeps the bits from dulling when clanking around inside the drill case.

I took some cork and cut a slice out of it all the way around and use it as a spool for thread and also for fishing line, then I stuck a couple hooks in there and i got the cork as bobber to use for a mini fishing kit if I can find some worms or bait.
