After seeing all those delicious burgers in the other thread, I got to thinking how many of you drink wine and what kind?

Burgers are my favorite kind of food out there and I have been trying to pair them with wine.

I live in the Napa Valley and make wine, which is why I'm asking (In case anyone was wondering).

I really like wine alot.
Cabernet would work nicely but maybe try a Petite Syrah especially if you like garlic and pepper with a burger.
I live near Napa as well and have spent the last few weekends at Berryessa. The scenery, most of the people, the wine and the lake make it one of the places we go for R + R. Oh yeah and burgers are nice too...
Cheers, Shane

Wine tours suck! One little taste at a time, its hard to get that fuzzy wine buzz on.

My favorite is a 1991 Justin Isosceles. A great red blend with very subtitle fruit flavors, and not a hard tannin finish.

Goes great with the HAMburger!

For the common stuff I am very partial to yellow tail shiraz. Goes great with steak so I would guess it would do well with burgers. Actually I should test that for you and get back on that. I am willing to sacrifice.

What kind of wine do you make?

Cheers! Napa Valley is a great place, in the country and only 30min from one of the best cities in the world. I tend to avoid the lake during this season because it's so crazy packed with people.

Let me know how it goes!

I make a 100% Cab. http://dcellars.com

Medoc, Chateuneuf du pape, Pinot noir are some of my favorite reds. Of course I won't turn down a Shiraz or Chillean Cab. Sauvignon

Also like viognier and chardonnay as whites

I was in Napa/St. Helena last August. Spent a lot of time at Charles Krug, Biale as well as Chase and a few others.

I'm also a huge fan of Freemark Abbey cabs. Seeing your winery's connection with Freemark Abbey certainly got my attention. :) Start shipping the cases...I got some burgers to eat. Freemark Abbey puts out a decent Petite Syrah as well.

I love wine (Favs: Syrah, Pinot Noir, Reisling, Voigner)...and good beer...and single malt scotch. Paring wine with a burger, huh? Cabernet or a Bordeaux-style blend and beef is a pretty standard combo. I wouldn't drink French wine with a burger though...Generally, it's a little subtle for the bold flavors that end up in a good burger. I agree with a Petite Syrah...or even better, a South African or Californian Syrah, especially with a burger that has a lot of spice or BBQ flavor.

IMHO :-D

Jack and coke is about as close as I get to wine.

qft. well, crown and coke here...

i have a buddy who's granddad makes various wild berry wines. his elderberry wine is awesome. it's blood red, opaque, and makes you sleep. gotta get some more of that.

Now what about a good Port. not really a wine, but damn good with just about anything.?

Wine is good, but aside from knowing the VERY basics...I just know if I like it when I taste it.

Some I like are Sauvignon Blanc from Casillero del Diablo and Incognito red and whites.
I like big reds and light whites.

Usually I just drink beer or bourbon though...

Spent two years in northern italy (long time ago) where I was truly introduced to wine. Last summer, my wife and I went to Napa and took the Napa Wine/Vineyard Train...totally worth your time. Beautiful country.

Currently I like a nice Shiraz from time to time, but I really like a solid Cabernet/Burgundy. Depends on what I'm eating, I guess.

I drink Gabbiano chaiti quite a bit, love the stuff. Hard to beat for $9.99 a bottle.

Hell yea, went out about 5months ago to ny and virgina all over hitting up and blowing down wine shops. give me the diamond, although im not into sweets to much that one stole my heart. stick to the dry'r whites. sitting on some spirit, blackcat, card, and pino g.
the amish k.o'd me though long day sherry and port , woke up 1hr later passed out at 1pm on an amish log bed with straws in my hair???? no idea.

i had 5g of the mean mead, but its scrapen bottom now. just sludge and impending headaches. it was the shit though. home made, needed more racking but what ever.

i work with a guy who's been aging 5 gallons of his mead, for i think 12 years. he's getting ready to bottle it up, and i think i'm gonna have to con him out of some.

Been to Russian River Valley, Napa, Virginia (yes, actually has good wine :)), Germany, and Italy. Also been whiskey tasting in Ireland. Never met a wine/beer/liquor tour i didn't enjoy. Always learning new things.
