Anyone know of any good winemaking links? Since my grinder broke, I'm looking for other less time consuming stuff to have fun with.

flatgrinder,
not be a smart alec, but sincere, you live not too far from some of the finest wineries, IMHO, in the world.....tour, tour, taste, taste, tour some more....
Simi valley, Napa.....Gosh we are planning almost a year and a half out to tour Ca. Wine Country for our 40th Anniversary....
And get that grinder fixed or replaced.....one can't give up the knifemaking obsession (smile).

We're planning on it too, but I just thought it would be fun to "give it a go" before seeing how the pros do it. :)

Hi flatgrinder,
Cool! My parents made 2 things as fun type experiments when they were here on earth. One was successful. the other wasn't such a great idea....
They did make some wine and it was very good. They got concentrate from a local store that specialized in winemaking and supplies...it is still open and has been for almost 40 years, so they must be doing something right..... The other was they made sourkraut...and after 6 weeks or so of aging,,,,it wasn't real fun to go anywhere near the tub it was "maturing in"....
I'd suggest you see if there is a winemaking supply store somewhere near you. Go there and discuss......they will be happy to help you...potential customer....longer term customer......
Mom and Dad enjoyed winemaking as they did it.... but if you are familiar with "Three Buck Chuck"...I think in Ca. it is "Two Buck Chuck" at Trader Joe's....hard to want to make your own except for the fun of doing so.......

Still ought to get that grinder going again (smile)

If there's not a winemaking supply, check for a brewer's supply store. They generally do winemaking stuff as well.

Not that Im any kind of expert, but my late wife was from North Ca also and so we made at least annual trips to see them. We always preferred the Mendocino county vineyards to Napa. Found they were more personable, and less businesslike. You might try goin there. And if you do.....I might wanna talk some business with you. Some of them still wont ship wine to Texas and Id like to get another case from Jepson...haa
