Wingman upgrade options?

I have carried a multi tool for many years.
For the past 10 years I have carried the Wingman every day and rarely a day goes by without it being used.
If ever there is a need for a specific bit that I need then I just use my Picquic screw driver with all of its bits.
I also have the original Surge, before the replaceable wire cutters were introduced. I also have the full bit kits for it.
It’s much too heavy to carry so it’s sat in a drawer since I got it in about 2006.
My daughter wants to take advantage of the student discount program to get me another Leatherman. I already have a Raptor.
I took a look at the reviews on the P4 and while many folks like it the general consensus appears that it’s overpriced for what it is and that there are better options like the Wave+ etc.
The Charge TTi with its reduced weight also looks appealing, specially with the 40% student discount.
Given the above is there an obvious incremental upgrade from the Wingman or is this just a case of if it ain’t broken don’t try and fix it!!
Thanks for the input and Happy Holidays.

Totally agree with you on the Surge. That monster is heavy. My wife bought me one as a wedding gift 16 years ago. It's a beast, but overkill.
I EDC the P4. I do like it. I don't like that I had to spend $130 to get it. I would say that if I were looking for an upgraded Wave, I would look into the Charge TTi. Lightweight with some class and a decend EDC steel for the blade. I think my next major tool purchase will be the TTi.

However, for a beater with a couple of one hand tools. I am looking at the Curl. I'm not sure if its a smart bet for $79 since my P4 is working just fine. However, I'm a glutton for new toys, and it would be affordable enough that I wouldn't feel too bad if it gets regulated to "sometimes" carry.

I love the Curl. It has replaced my Wave+ for everyday carry. Here's my Curl:

Note the Wave saw blade that I installed in place of the file. I like the Curl because it gives me the tools from the Wave that I feel are most useful to me (straight blade, screwdrivers, can opener, wire stripper, scissors), adds an awl, and reduces the weight by removing two tools that I rarely use on my Wave (serrated blade and, after my modification, the file).

The Curl has most of the same tools as the Wingman, and (in my opinion) better-quality versions of those tools.

There's also the Bond, which is quite a bit cheaper at $49, but lacks scissors and one-hand-opening tools.

I think the Wingman, and the model similar to it, are the only two with spring loaded pliers. The self-opening pliers were the reason I picked the Wingman over the Wave.
