Any ideas of the occasion this Winkler Belt Knife was made? Its numbered 6 of 6 on the spine. Can't seem to find anything regarding occasion for production of this special edition. Perhaps a SHOT Show??? Year?? Winkler Box says "Special Edition" and "6 of 6" on the side. Recent purchase I made when looking for a Winkler and found it online. Just curious. Any ideas out there?

EDIT/CLARIFICATION: Yes email has been sent to WK; pending reply. Just a friendly photo sharing/discussion topic. Thought there might be some other WK insight out there on this series.

Why not just email Winkler and ask? If anybody knows for sure the people there will.
Lol I've never understood why this is not everyone's first action. Contact the people who made whatever you are curious about, they should be the ultimate authority on the subject.

Tough crowd around here. It was my first action. Waiting on a reply. Figured it was a friendly item for discussion and to share photos. Thought this was a discussion forum...?? : (

Just out of curiosity, where did this knife come from? Private sale, on-line retailer or......?

Your initial post seems like you’re fishing for value which is against the rules unless you have a Gold membership or higher, that might explain some of the replies.

Do you own that particular knife?

As far as the knife, it’s a show special, can’t remember which one. Winkler also made a couple of models with red liners as well, the Belt Knife and I believe the Operator was the other.

I own it. Purchased through Nordic Knives. Not fishing; honestly trying to get an understanding if there is info on the series.

Online through Nordic Knives out of Boise, Idaho.
Then it's entirely possible that this was a limited run that Nordic commissioned from Winkler. It looks like they sell custom knives, and are also a Winkler dealer. 🤷‍♂️

They appear to have another "one of six" Winkler knife available at current, in fact.

OK....Reason I asked is I saw another knife (crusher) recently on fleabay with the same 6 of 6 mark, with different handle material. I'd wait and see what Winkler has to say about it.

I'd check with Nordic also. As Quiet Quiet mentioned, they might have commissioned small runs.
Another show special, by the description it's probably on consignment.

Quite a bit of talk about these in other groups, some already looking to flip ... no takers from what I've saw so far.

Not accusing, just explaining why some of the replies aren't so friendly.

I got a reply from Winkler and the knife series were made for Blade Show 2021 and they decided to do this limited release after the prior year show was canceled for COVID.

I have a tendency on buying... much to my wife's dismay.

Looks like a very nice knife. I'd be interested in learning more about it as well. Does that model Winkler normally have tapered tangs? How thick is it behind the edge?

Enjoy!

The belt knives are all tapered, but not all of the other models

All Winklers are thick-ish bte. Great knives though.

It is a good looking Winkler. I have an SD-1 in micarta that I really like. It's a very tough little customer. I did to take it to my WE and thin/reset the bevel angles a bit.
