Just bought one cause I've wanted one. Yea me. So anybody have any experience with one? Don't want opinions on it if you don't own it. No conjecture etc.etc. Just folks that own one, have owned one and used one. Keepem sharp and thanks.

For such a talented and prolific knife maker, these knives don't get talked about very often. It makes me sad. Hopefully I'll be ordering mine Friday, and I hope to change that.

For anyone interested, I now have one on the way. Should be here next week sometime if everything works out. I hope to use it hard, and maybe even post my thoughts, good or bad.

Have it in hand tonight. Been fondling it non-stop. Longbow's assertion (in his exchange post) is correct; the handle is on the small side. For me, I like it, but I wear something between medium and large gloves, so my hands are generally on the small side for a 6' tall adult male. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks if you're interested for my review thread. There is no question on the quality. Fit, finish and attention to detail on the whole package are outstanding. I'll be running it through the paces and stating my feelings on the design and the KG finish as well.

The WKII Field Knife is absolutely amazing. Mine arrived about 2 weeks ago and I've had a couple chances to take it out and have a little fun. Very tough and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. I mean you can really beat the crap out of it, no joke. Edge retention is pretty good but nothing to really brag about, the real magic of the edge is how easy it is to sharpen, at home or in the field. The handle is a little bit small but it is very, very comfortable and helps to give you amazing control of the knife(I wear a size large glove). Love the sheath too. Overall it's a great performer that is sure to outlast your grandchildren!

I'll try to get a few pics up later today guys.

Winkler II line was highly promoted as user knife but IMO its too expensive for 5160/1085 stock removal. At that kind of price you can easily get custom with much better steel.....

First and foremost, no Winkler knives are highly promoted. Second, most if the knives are 52-100 I believe. Third, I have serious doubts about you buying any knife from an ABS Master smith in any steel for less. The Winkler II line is fairly unique in the industry in that you get the Masters smith's design and attention to detail without the typical wait and price tag. Whether it's worth the money to you is entirely subjective. I'm happy with mine.

I must admit I too thought them to be quite pricey. I do like the SAR design though but ones I have seen are close to $500! Then again, a lot of things seem expensive to me these days.
