Because Vince so generously gave me a very cool Utica/Kutmaster Purina Stockman and because glennbad is so graciously helping me rescue an old Peanut, I'd like to give my other Peanut away. Not new but little carried. No box. It's a Case pattern 6220 SS from 2007. That's right, stainless steel. I like stainless too.

Just let me know you are in and tell a bit about a favorite you either lost or rescued. I'll choose a winner at random next Sunday and get it to you by Christmas.

Not an entry sir please, but thanks for doing this. With the luck I've had lately here it'd be simply unfair to enter! :D

Good luck everyone :)

I came darn close to picking up my first peanut yesterday at the antique store. Only thing that stopped me was having only about twenty bux in the bank:rolleyes:. All of my "saved" knives were found at the same time. My grandfather had passed about six years prior and my grandmother was cleaning house. I'd never thought it proper to raid the place without her bringing it up before. Found a handful of fixed blades and a Boy Scout slippie that were all completely rusted over in his workshop. Gave them the tlc that I could and got the rust off. One of the fixed blades I use regularly, the other one has a crazy amount of pommel wobble that I can't seem to fix and the scout knife has about a quarter inch of lateral wobble that I can't deal with so it sits on display. I'm in btw. Thanks for the opportunity.

Not an entry, as i already have one, just saying.. congrats on doing a great giveaway with that beautiful cult object.

I'm in.

Rescued? There are countless little slipjoints that are in my toolbox, I search high and low through places like the Bay and flea markets for old, beaten knives that need a good home. The best feeling is cleaning up rust and oiling gritty joints. :)

My favourite I lost was a Buck 55, my 14th birthday present. Somewhere between moving houses it disappeared and hasn't shown up after persistent searching. I am tempted to go grab another on but just havent gotten around to it.

My favourite rescue is an old Imperial barlow I found in an antiques shop. It looked like someone put it in a toolbox and forgot about it.Had to use pliers to open the blades! After some steel wool and WD-40 I had the rust scrubbed off and the blades snapping open and closed. Put an edge on it and carried it for about 6 months until I ponied up and bought a sheepsfoot boys knife, which started this addiction I've been trying to kick :p Still carry it sometimes, the little pen is perfect for sharpening pencils at work.

im in on this nutty opportunity. guess I haven't really lost many knives cept for one, but I think if I kept it, I would not have become the knife knut I am today. was a buck companion, darn good little folder, bucks steel is one of the only stainless I have no complaints with. one I did a little fixing to was an old schrade walden pen knife my grandpa carried, little steel wool and a toothpick, found a little piece of newspaper when I was cleaning it, letter o. carry it now and then but don't want to risk loosing that beaut.

I'll enter because I did lose a knife (and don't have but have been wanting a peanut). My dad game me a Case tiny Trapper that I carried and used a lot. Something like a month ago I got back in my truck from a meeting and checked my pocket for it, but it wasn't there. I was really upset, got that nervous feeling, and looked all through my truck. I seriously looked for like days, where I was, in my truck, in my room, etc. A few days later I was looking in my bag for something (a paper or usb or something) and there was my tiny trapper. I'm really glad I found it.

Not an entry thanks as I've got enough in the Peanut stable, others' needs are greater! Great gesture.

I have lost a Chambriard Compact stag knife recently, a real blow. Still hoping it may turn up but it's fading....

I am in thanks for the chance brother! My all time favorite knife GEC "Redneck" that thing has been with me since day one, ive camped, fished, hunted, ate, done everything with that thing. Last month i was bass fishing in my canoe, dont really know what happened but i flipped and it has been sitting at the bottom of the lake ever since. I bought a GEC Bullnose but it has never been the same, i have searched for another redneck but never could find one, id love if they ran another run of 'em.

I'm in. I don't have any peanuts.

I guess I rescued a Shrade 34OT that I bought for $14 from Muskrat Man on the AAPK forum. It was a mess. I cleaned it up and removed what rust I could. I then cold blued the blades and it went right into my pocket.

Thanks for a great opportunity.

I'm in. I lost a few old timers when I was a kid...been wanting a decent traditional folder.

Great giveaway! Thanks!

Count me in.

My favorite rescues have been... well my first I guess which was an old Boker Trapper which was a seemingly solid hunk of rust from a yard sale, unopenable and all. Soaked it in light oil for a while and the rust fell off it and it cleaned up beautifully.

More recent was a Utika Kutmaster Barlow from a gun show. It had a broken tip and some rust. It must have been of not too recent make because after I cleaned it up and reshaped the blade I found both blades to be a nice carbon. Good snap, no wobble, even well used I found it to be a great solid user with a lot of life left.

One I haven't done much to but just stashed away is below. It was $20 at an antique shop.

I'm in on this gracious giveaway.

I recently found two of my grandfather's knives that I had before I was "into" knives, and I thought I lost them. Lo and behold, they appear out of the blue and I carry one every day.

I'm in, I forgot that I had a Dexter Russell high carbon Chinese chef cleaver from my move five years ago. It was left in my basement in a tupperware container. I recently reprofiled the blade and wet sanded all the grime and corrosion off the surface it's in my regular rotation of kitchen knives these days. Thanks for the chance!

Leghog, you're plain nuts! This isn't an entry, but MAN is somebody gonna be getting a sweet one! Story time: My greatest loss is that of my first knife, a tiny two bladed buck pen with wooden handles. Got it for christmas when i was about 6 yrs old. That was one of the coolest presents I ever got, and to this day I'm drawn to small pen patterns because they remind me of it. It disappeared during a move, I think.

As far as my favorite rescue, that title goes to an old Camillus stockman I bought out of a bucket at an antique mall in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. I was a rusted hulk, and a gamble at $10. I ponied up the funds, and it cleaned up right purty! one of my favorite knives, period. The jigging in the almost translucent bone is sublime, the steel is great, and the swedges on the blades are an awesome vintage touch. They don't make 'em like they used to (yeah, I know, I'm too young to say that).

Sorry to ramble. Good luck to all, and good on you Leg for doing this.

Edan

I'm in for this one. I love the harvest orange PW bone. I lost my "precious", the amber bone mini copperhead that I have raved over here so many times. It could turn back up as there are a thousand places around here it could be lurking. If it is just being mean and hiding, it is doing a great job of it.

As far as a rescue, this one was not that far gone, but the previous owner had sharpened it on a grinder or with an angle grinder and the blades had some ugly marks on them. I picked it up for very little money because it was ugly. With a little elbow grease and some wet/dry paper on the workbench (glued down flat), I was able to take most of the grinder damage out without removing too much material or making it any uglier than it already was. Here's an after picture.
