Evening folks, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday, our weather has lessened up a bit here, still bitterly cold but we actually might reach into the low 40's mid week, giving the snow a chance to melt down a little bit.

that needed some attention, the handle is boxwood, feels quite hard, but is very light in both weight and colour but was rough to the touch and a little grunged, my guess was it was finished up on a Friday night and missed the final steps to getting it finished and left the shop in a box when it shouldn't have left. As the action was SUPER loose, so much so I was almost cut several times just handling it, the blade flopped about and it was sharp enough to cause concern. And the stop pin was not ground down to the final height, it protruded a bit above the handle. So I set about to remedy the situation and sanded down the wood smooth, hammered down the pivot pin with a ball peen hammer and now acts like a friction folder should. And taped off and sanded down the stop pin so it's closer to the handle now.
But, and there's always a but it seems
, I guess I'm not a true fan of friction folders, the blade shape drew me to it and my wanting to get a French knife again played a part, so when Fred mentioned he'd give it away I couldn't help but say yes. Thanks again Fred, I've enjoyed its stay but time to send her off to a more loving home.
So, this time it is a small giveaway for folks in the USA, and some stipulations regarding joining in, please read and heed the following;
1. Need to be a paying member of the forums, just better all around for contacting as well as supporting the forums, the lowest level isn't much and I know Spark appreciates it when people support this place.
2. Need to have at least 100 posts in this section of the forum, the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades area, I feel it's good that the folks on the porch contribute to this area.
3. That you have not won any giveaways within the past year, let others get a chance.
4. This one's tricky as everyone on the porch are very considerate people, Please do not post and say 'if I win, give it to so and so' it just trips up everything and that person may not meet all the above requirements.
5. Dat's dat, I will let this go until this Friday...French Friday
and I'll not be able to join in on that thread again, but I'll keep searching for a French folder and in the immortal words of Arnold 'I'll be Back...'
here are a few images of the knife, also I have sharpened it to it's betterment so she be keener now. Closed it is about 4 1/4" long, with a blade about 3 1/4" long

and as an addition, I will include a nice leather slip sheath that I made for this folder, as even if it stays put in the handle, you'd not want it to sneak out as you'd be cut to the quick, it's a comfy leather sheath, have to squeeze the knife out from the bottom, kinda like toothpaste style.

So there it is, come Friday around noon time EST I'll run the random number generator and come up with a post # and will try to get her shipped out that day or worse case Saturday, if the winner might not be able to contact me with their address in time to make the post.
Thanks again Fred and folks on the porch, I hope you have a safe and warm week next week!
