Seems like I'm just now gearing up for winter, I need an insulated, waterproof, winterboot.

I'm leaning toward the llbean type rubber bootom leather upper boots, any other suggestions?

Oh, and I don't want a hunting boot, this is just for shoveling snow and possibly dog walking.

I have a pair of Canada made leather upper rubber bottom Sorels that I got about three eyars ago, and they are excellent.

I had previously just bought a pair of cheap snow boots every winter, and never had any idea what I was missing until I got the Sorels. They are not tennis shoes, but they are extremely confortable. The rubber is a much softer and more flexible compound than the hard plastic used on the cheap boots.

I have had them more or less submerged in puddles and small streams and the boots never got the least bit wet inside. Mine came with a packet of Sno-Seal to use on them, and it appears as though the stuff works as advertised.

They are warm, comfy, durable, and seem to get good traction on the cold stuff. I don''t think that there is anything more I could ask of a winter boot for general usage. The price was very reasonable, as I caught a dealer closing out the last of his stock.

It is my understanding that the newer Sorels are being made in China instead of Canada. I've not used any of them myself, but I have heard that the quality is not the same as it used to be.

With a snow storm rapidly approaching I went to the outsdoors store in town and picked a pair of Kamlinks (sp?). They seem perfectlty reasonable for what I need them for.

I also picked up 2 pairs of wool socks from filson, yow these baies are comfortable!

Just remember that you may need to buy a size or two larger than you usually do when talking insulated boots. Especially if you intend to wear some extra thick socks. The last thing you want it a snug fit. Also, the best thing I ever discovered is wearing a pair of thin polypropylene under socks.

I recommend the Columbia Bugabootoo. I have had mine for about 3 seasons and they are by far the warmest, most comfortable winter boots I own.
