I read about the winter campin symposium last year but was not able to make it. This year I was able to get the time off and will be making the drive. Anyone else planning to attend?

I'm considering it, but if it isn't cold and can't use my wood stove, or it's raining instead of snow, no.

Thanks for the link and lets hope for appropriately chilly fall weather.

Well, didn't get there til Sat., but better late than never. Got set up and met the neighbors, as one of the guys turned to walk away I spotted a large knife. I stopped him and said, "Hey, are you JD?" Yes I am he replied.:D
Serendipity. :D

Here is JD's tent. WAY awesome.

I am so glad u spoke up. My son and i both enjoyed the conversation and comradare. I loved your set up and beautiful canoe. I already have plans to make a similar collapsible camp chair. I hope to see you on the trail again and if you find yourself in western ohio shoot me a pm.

If you find you need measurements, let me know. If I find myself near you I will Pm. Good times.

Good to see you made it home safe!!

It is a tentipi. Tom at Mansfield Outdoors sells them and has been very helpful on the phone. I like this style tipi/lavu because you can pack it (it comes inside a back pack) and you can still have an open fire or wood stove in it. The downside is that they are uber pricey. I managed to score my barely used at a reduced price. They have some vids on utube. Fourdog stove also has some of this tent if you want to check it out.
