....... a little late but it was nice to get out and see all the tracks in the snow.

Did a little exploring with a friend and showed him how to get back to the shelter I put up for this winter. We each hauled in things to leave out there for the cold season. No sense in carrying everything in every time out. He departed to attend a family event and I stayed out and enjoyed a fire. The daytime clouds moved on and the stars were shining bright. Was a nice evening by the fire.

Hauled in bulky stuff to leave out.

Looks different with fresh snow.

Some fire prep. The bulk of my tinder is still attached to underside of the big pieces of oak bark I used on the fire reflector. You can't see it in the picture but I'll have plenty for the winter.

Split a bunch of smaller stuff I gathered while out last weekend.

The reflector works very well. Next time out I'll make a long fire and see how warm the inside of the A-frame gets.

Glad to see you finally got your winter. We got a whole 1/2 inch right now, and that will be gone in 2 days.

Thanks for sharing the pics, though.

Cool stuff.

What's the specs on that GB hawk? Looks like the british trade hawk correct?

I know the feeling, we just got dumped in some parts of the bush with 8" in some spots. Perfect dusting for a fire and to take the jeeps out.

That is really living ! I have done that many times, built a winter shelter and just enjoy God's country and the simpleness of life, my hat is off to you sir

Nice. I had to drive 200 miles and climb to 9000 feet to find snow this week. Making the most out of the conditions I have, because if I think about it, it's rather depressing. Super shelter. Winter really teaches you that 5 % effort means 50% more comfort, and your camp looks great. I like the cool flames shot. If I had private land I could use as a designated winter camp, I'd do it just to cut down on the amount of stuff I'd have to pack in. Winter isn't over yet of course... there's a growing interest among my typical outdoors group to do some wolf hunting this winter, and a seasonal camp like that sure would be practical.

nice! i think i'll try that super shelter on my next trip too.

No snow in the immediate future here, but I am going to make a winter shelter in one of my 'covert" camp sights. We had some decent snow last year and it's still January.

Can I ask why you blurred your face out? Unless I'm just seeing things but it looks swirled. But anyway really nice pics. Thats my kind of trip. Nice shelter too.

He doesn't want everyone to know he is really DB Cooper. LOL

Great looking camping spot, don't get much snow here. Chris
