It was a nice day here in Kentucky today & the twins got a new set of .22LR Crickets from Santa:rolleyes: They wantd to try'em out so we geared up & hit the hills here at my house. I took my Ruger MKII .22LR SS Target pistol & my Ruger 10/22 Carbine & my Breeden Pathfinder knife & I took along a small fire kit in my carg pocket. The boys took their Cricket .22LR's & their Mora scouts & they loaded their shoulder packs up with ammo, water, granola bars, flashlights, spool of contractor grade twine, & Bino's On the way up the hill I let them find deer tracks & coyote scat & Turkey Scat. They were showing me the beech trees & the old husk the beech nuts came in. While we were out I wanted to teach them how to use their camo to their advantage. Here are the pics ! -

Some cool pics bro, I like the camo, though I think I'll wait a while before I get the little one any quite that effective :) How are the boys doing with the Crickets?

Great pics!! I lived in Jessamine county for about 5 years.... I had a boss from Pikeville, Ancie Hatfield, he sure loved the 'Cats!!!

The boy's love them, they arwe just the right size & weight for them to use effectively. They can operate the Cricket without any help.

LOL...They love going for our "little" walk in the woods & it keeps them really interested when they get to bring along their Mora's & either their Air Rifles or .22LR's. They love to load their own packs & wear one of their Camo outfits. I am one Blessed man.

Great pics. It's great to see the boys enjoying themselves in the outdoors. Quality family time beats anything else, doesn't it!

Thats awesome that your kids can enjoy the outdoors with you coaldigger!! I love seeing that! Those are gonna be some good memories! I'm sure you are a proud father. Way to teach them correct firearm handling, I have friends that still dont know how to safely handle firearms. Needless to say I dont shoot with them after the first time we did.

Boy that camo is pretty good to. Hope you and your family the best coaldigger!

Thanks guy's....If your gonna keep firearms in your home & you have children then it's best to teach them firearm safety & how to handle them in a safe way. I was raised hunting & shooting & my dad taught me & my brother about guns & gun safety & now I'm gonna do my best to teach my boy's the same way my dad taught me & nothings better than "Hands on" teaching ;)

That's awesome! It reminds me that becoming a Scout leader was the right thing to do for me. I get to spend time with my boys in the outdoors, go plinking, have a campfire, make hot chocolate for them (coffee for dad :D) talk about our beautiful country and just enjoy being together without distractions. Before I signed up to be a leader I was a tenderfoot through and through, 11 years of working with Scouts has helped me learn an awful lot about outdoor survival skills.

I wish I knew about those Crickett rifles years ago, my guys would have had them when they were still Cub Scouts. And they're made right here in Pennsylvania too! They enjoy the semi-autos I bought them when they earned their Scout Rifle badges though (Mossberg and 10/22).

I consider myself a blessed man, my dad was never able to do what I do with me, and he wasn't much for the outdoors. I just hope when my boys grow up they do the same thing with their kids. My older son made Eagle last year at age 16, so perhaps he will. My younger son should make Eagle at the same age as his brother. At 16 he's been old enough to understand and still have a couple years to enjoy it.

Thank you for sharing the awesome pictures with your boys!

Cheers,
Griff

Very cool stuff. In all honesty, I could find them, but, only because I was looking for them. If I would have just seen the photos not knowing, I wouldn't have. Great stuff, thanks for posting.

Good on you and your boys. They sure do know how to use that camo.

I'm STILL looking for them in the first picture.

Yeah..they are still learning how it works & backgrounds to try to find & how to position themselves, this is the first time they have actually tried to "blend in"
