This is actually 2 days worth of hiking. Sunday 1/23 I hiked with my lil bro @ a local state park. It was just a good couple hours getting outside.

Looks like fun! Thanks for sharing.

Maybe in a few years you can give your little girl her very own Pink Izula -- she obviously likes pink!

BTW, did you baton through that log in the second-to-last pic?

Always great to see more threads with parents hiking with their kids. Looks like a great area for getting out with your knives too.

Yes. I actually just chunked off small strips. It was my first time batoning and I didn't want to get to crazy. It worked really well to do small strips. I don't think the HEST is really a batoning knife but it was a small branch and I wasn't getting to crazy.:D

What a beautiful place you have to enjoy the outdoors...Thanks for sharing time spent with your family...It really inspires me to get out and try my hand at batoning!

Great pictures! Looks like fun out there, if a bit cold.

It was mid 20s. It really wasn't too bad. I was really proud of my daughter. We stayed out for at least an hour and half and she never complained once about it being cold. Not bad for a 4yr old. I have been out with adults who complain quicker!!:D

Woo - where is that state park located? I'm in CKY and am always looking for new hiking/camping destinations within an easy drive.

Also, please forgive me for this one, but how can you be in both east Indiana AND east Ohio? lol

It is real close to New Castle, In. If you are in Central Ky, I would look into clifty falls state park in southern IN. That park I was at really doesn't have alot of hiking trails. I really like Clifty Falls.

Trust me I keep asking myself the same question! :D I work in Ohio 23 days a month and come home to Indiana 7 days a month. Its a tough gig right now because my family stays in Indiana all the time. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Been doing it for almost a year now.

Thanks, woo - I'll definitely check that out.

On that other matter -I was just wondering if that was a typo and should've read East Indiana/West Ohio. lol

I wish it was a typo!:D

Trail 2 @ Clifty State Park is one of my favorite trails in Indiana. I have been hiking it since I was probably 5 or 6. I would check it out.

Also check out the Knobstone Trail. I plan hiking it this spring. I have heard alot of good things about it.

woo, there is just something special about a child's smile outdoors that makes it worthwhile no matter what the weather is like. She looks like she is having the time of her life with dad. Kudos for getting her outside at a young age to enjoy it. Glad you got to spend some time with your family, have you had a chance to wet a line in that pond yet ???
Be safe.
