I love winter hiking.
No rocks or roots, just a trail to follow.
The day I went it was 3*F.
A little cold but I had the mountain to myself.
I like to hike Mt Cardigan because it's local to me and just over 3000 feet.
The only special equipment I use are kahtoola micro spikes.

Mandatory Becker content and what I had with me.

The trail.

The views.

The tower and me taking a nap.

Man that is beautiful, thanks for posting it. The 14 in an Azwelke sheath is about as good as it gets for a necker isn't it? Mine goes everywhere with me.

Beautiful area man, thanks for posting it up. I need to get out again.

Looks like a great hike! Thanks for sharing your photos.

Wow, those are some views. I'd be dying to bring my rifle up there and glass the area. Whenever I see wide open spaces like that I always think about hanging steel across the way and trying to hit it. Although, some of those pics I'm pretty sure you'd need a flipping CheyTac to hit at those ranges hahaha.

Not sure even a CheyTac would do it. Depending on where you're gonna hang something, most of that looks to be well over 2 miles.

Damn, trailbum. All the snow is melted down here. I love the big granite dome at the top of Cardigan. Very cool pics, brings back a few memories for me; been years since I hiked in that area of the state. I love winter hikes too, it's like white pavement. Way easier on the aging knees. Amazing how the trails are almost always packed down, too. Thanks for being kind enough to bring us along.

wow... beautiful pics man. thanks for sharing. it is supposed to be 82 here today..... :grumpy:

Good to see you back around here buddy! Excellent looking day out. Marpat goretex trousers?

Awesome hike and great pictures.

Do you still want to do the Grafton loop trail this summer?

You and me both.

Wide open country and shooting steel is always fun.

82 sounds ok.

Tru spec knockoffs. Glad to be back.

When I get to the top of a mountain, my dream is always to have a zipline or hang glider to go down. That would be amazing. Even better if you had exploding targets set up on either side ala Top Shot, so you could shoot at them as you zipped down the mountain.

Gorgeous. Looks like fun, but I've had enough snow to last me a dang lifetime after this winter! No thank you sir :D

What a great looking way to spend the day. Thanks for sharing the pics.
