Hi Guys,

went to the desert again. Besides my buddy (and photographer) there was also my ASH-1 LE on board.

Shortly before we left the highway. Mind the shotgun bullet holes in the middle of the road sign.

4 am. About 2 degrees Celsius. Yes, it can get pretty cold during the night in the Arabian desert. And not much you can do when you run out of fire wood :grumpy:

Thanks for watching!

AAAAAARRRG  No Toyota ;) That's the mighty Nissan Patrol Super Safari 4.8 VTC   :D

A very sweet rig for sure between the ASH-1 LE and the Patrol! I don't think we have those Patrols over here in the US, (or at least I haven't seen many) so the closest looking thing most people have seen to that would be an older land cruiser. :o

Oh, and where do you even FIND firewood? :foot: :D :p I remember a winter in a tent in a similar environment with no heater... -4*C was the coldest and I would have given anything to have a Busse AND firewood!

Yes. The Nissan Patrol was marketed in the US as the Ford Maverick, if I am not mistaken. Landcruisers and Patrols keep mocking each other in many parts of the world. So don't take my reaction too serious. It's like the NMSFNO vs FSH discussion. We are all right.

And here a pick of me "finding" firewood the same trip :D Unfortunately this stuff burns like cinder. Won't keep you warm for long :(

I find it hilarious that your Nissan has a snorkel but love it just the same. Keep the pics coming.:D

Haha. I know. Not many water crossing around here ;) But the snorkel makes it easier for the air filter in those environments. less dust up there. especially in convoys. Provides also cooler air for the engine which makes some difference in the summer time. But, yeah, hilarious it is. Firefighter in wetsuit :D

Awesome pics! I want to know more about that Nissan...what year is that? Looks like you had a great time.

The convoy and surface heat makes sense with the snorkel. I could see how well they help.

What type of engine do you have? 5 speed transmission?

It's a 2008 model. It is really hard to recognize because of the modifications (front bumper, rear bumper, 3" lift, etc...)

Yup. It's a 5 speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The engine is a stock 4.8 liter VTC (benzine) providing approx. 300 hp.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. And good to see a fellow Busse addict here in the region :)

I always struggle to find firewood in the desert.. the few bushes around I don't want to cut down so I usually end up bringing some wood (or even charcoal) along and just using my knifes to play around ;)
My knifes see more action on my travels to Africa..
