WIP: Big O1 bowie with damascus and Desert Ironwood.

I am working on a bowie with a 31 cm long O1 blade, damascus fittings and a Desert Ironwood handle.

Here are the results so far.

Forged.

Ground the outline and the flats

Ground te false edge and shaped the ricasso.

Hardened and tempered.

Start finish grinding.

Piece of damascus for the S-guard.

Guard and spacer shaped and fitted.

Guard bent.

Handle fitted.

Now that you mention it...........I now see there is some work in the handle to do, thanks for the heads up!:thumbup:

I like the handle as it is, the nice blocky grip just fills the hand and minimizes the shock from chopping.

Back from a week in Germany.
This afternoon I fitted the handle against the spacer and the holes for the pin and the lanyardtube.
Roughly made the contour of the handle. Less blocky....
