Hey all,

Curt Erickson showed up today to start a colaboration knife. For fun we thought that we would switch roles. Curt did the forging of the damascus steel. He is going to do the blade and I am going to do the handle.

Curt forged the firestorm damascus today for the blade. He took it home to work on it.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Hoss

Devin, this is gonna be really cool to watch play out. Curt told me yesterday he was headed for Nevada today to do this with you. Can't wait to see the end result of his work and your work. Betcha both had great fun! Just saw the pie, looks as good to me as it seems to Curt!

Best,

Bob Betzner

I love knives, and love this community...

Stuff like this is absolutely inspirational....thanks Curt, and thanks Devin!

Thanks much to Devin and his family for the great hospitality. This was a great experience and that pie was just wonderful. Hope everyone will enjoy what we come up with on this project as it should be pretty good if I don't warp any more steel. Devin is a trooper and one great wealth of knowledge on steel.

What I really like about such WIP Threads is adding pictures
and little stories from the after-work-time hours.

This adds so much about the people involved and presents
a more complete picture about who these wonderful artists
really are....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Curt was a natural at the hammer. I was very impressed with his skills. He has never forged before but took to the forging like a seasoned pro. It took us about 10 hours to complete the bar. I'll tell you that Curt is not afraid of hard work.

He did show up with a shirt on that was a little to nice for forging, so I had to get him something to put on over it.:D

I think it was kind of a shock for Curt to work in a messy shop.:o

Pie is all it takes? Hey Devin, if I bring you some pecan pie made with real Texas pecans, can I forge something in your shop? ;)

This should be an interesting project. What are you two going to make?

Curt, I haven't seen your mug since the 1985 Guild show.

Very cool, you look like you're having way too much fun.

By the way, where's the diner in Panaca? We're out that way a couple of times a year!! I want some of that pie.

This can't be anything less than spectacular.

I really appreciate Hoss and Curt doing it. Thanks!
