I always seem to remember to take pictures when I'm half finished ... Anyways here a WIP of a sheath I'm making for one of my game knives / fillet knife. These are sharp and cheap and this far my favourite knives to dress moose.

Critique welcomed as I'm a noob. toughest thing about weaving is getting everyone the same depth ...

I have some trimming to do on this back piece on its dry and shaped , I soaked it and it's being pressed under my Quartz block. I'm calling it a night ... Promised the wife I would watch a movie with her ... Boooo

Good job so far. It looks like you have everything planned out and ready to go. The stamping looks even and straight also. I will keep watching for the finished product.

So far so good, thanks for posting the work in progress, I look forward to seeing more! :)

If its not too late think about re stamping your border. You've got great depth on the basket stamp but not so much on the border. Restamping the border will also help where some of the basket has bled over. A lot of guys will do the border after the basket for that reason. I border first then basket and then will re border often. Takes a little longer (bout a minute) but it will clean up a lot of the over bleed. Your work is looking good.

Ah I wish I would have seen this before! I love your work Dave! I haven't seen anything I didn't like from you yet. I love your work methods and natural like finishes

Thanks. If ya havn't stitched it yet pull er apart. All ya lose is a little glue and a couple of minutes. Be worth it.

Well worth it. Believe him and me. It makes all the difference between a professional finish and a mediocre job.

Thanks guys , I know this is a poor attitude , and I should do my best but this sheath will be covered in moose hair and blood and what ever it gets thrown at it. I know I should do it properly but I'll finish this one up and I'll be starting a folding sheath with skirt today! I'll take what dave said into consideration and give his methode a try.

i hate having the thought of doing a poor job on my conscience. on the other hand it will be a reminder of where i came from and i can see my work improving.

For me I learn the most on the next sheath from my mistakes on the last sheath. However I do know what you mean from not doing your best. Sometimes it just flows together and sometimes not so much. Great job and keep the pic coming.

I'll be putting a piece of this year's moose antler on as a tensioner. the wife has been harping at me to watch a movie with her so I don't know if I'll get the chance to finish it tonight. I still have to coat it with neatsfoot oil
