Well, I just committed to having a table at the OKCA show coming up in April in Eugene, OR. I've always made knives at my own pace have pretty much sold them as they have been completed, so this is going to be a nice challenge for me.

I know it's not until April, but I figured I'd better start getting stuff rolling whenever I can. I spent some time today giving the bandsaw a good workout. Got enough handle scales cut out for about forty knives. This is just the first step, I'll try to update as I continue to put together a good sized batch of blades for the show.

Cool jmac see you in april!! You bringin 40 up with ya?

LOL, that would be nice, but I don't think quite that many. Some of these scales will be used on orders currently on the books and such. I would like to show up with at least two dozen blades.

Glad to hear you'll be there, G!

Man it would be cool to get a table at the OCKA show. You're inspiring me. I'm going to think hard about it.

Looks good Johnny. Will this be your first show? I do one a year in Ohio, and I start setting knives aside about 6 months in advance. I only took 17 with me this year. You will really like doing a show I am sure. It is nice to put faces to names and handles here on the forums. I am sure it will also provide you with about a zillion new ideas.

40! Haha... I am right there with you Jonny. I have committed as well! Maybe I will see you there? :p

I ground out 10 blades between Yesterday and today. Firing up the new oven as we speak to get them Hard.

Ten blades this weekend!! Now I'm feeling like a slacker:p I hope we're on opposite sides of the building so you don't see my tiny assortment of work!!:D

Yeah, this will be the first one with my own table, Matt. Since there is already less than six months till the OKCA show you now officially have made me nervous!!:)

Hmmm this is one I'm close enough to consider a drive down and meet some of you fellas. Never been to a knife show before, could be fun!

The whole affair of getting knives finished and the actual sale was always very exciting for me !! Just before the show I would have "new" ideas pop up that I felt would be the best and they would drive me into finishing one or two more ! Could be real great for you Johnny and I hope it turns out that way !!! Frank

The Oregon show should be pretty fun this year. Seems like there are quite a few forumites planning on attending. I'll be there as well. I hope to have ten or so set aside just for the show. Last time I only brought three :(

Jonny, I look forward to meeting you at the show! I think you will do well there with your style.

10 in one weekend! Dang Ryan! I struggled to grind out two.

It's not what you think Jason.....Ryan was working in aluminum this weekend:p He prefers to make knives from aluminum because it grinds like butter and gets really shiny:D

Let me know when you find out your table number, this will be my second year there. I will be table I 13.
I live about 5min from the fairgrounds where it is held, let me know if you need anything!

Thanks Ben! Will definitely be in touch when I get info finalized in the next month or two.

Looking forward to hanging out.

Welcome to the OKCA. The show is pretty fun been doing it for the last 12 years. Bring some simple users and you should do well. I am table I09. Stop by and say hello.

Have to say I wish I were that well organized. I usually start about a month before the show. Good luck and one again welcome.

Welcome to the OKCA show guys. Definitely a fun show, I have more fun just walking around and visiting with friends. I will be table T09.

I am praying I can make it down there. it is going to take come convincing, but I am hoping i can make it. I really want to hold the stuff that really works and get some ideas.

Take some convincing? What for? :) I look forward to this show every year. Some of you know that during the last OKCA show I got the phone call that my wife had gone into labor so I had to rush out and drive up to PDX. I don't think her friends will ever let me live that one down but she gave me permission to go that morning, thinking she still had a couple days...

I'm also looking forward to the mini show in December. I wish I could justify a table at the April show but I haven't been able to put a fraction of the time in the shop that I would like. Stinking med-school and 3 kids... Messing up my hobby time... :D Just kidding; my kids also look forward to the shows and love getting to talk to the different makers. There are always a ton of great makers and suppliers there and it's so nice to put a face with a name.

Don't tell my hunting buddies, but I think I look forward to the April OKCA show just as much as the opening of hunting season! I'm sad that 2012 will be the last show I'll likely be able to attend (graduating 12/12) so my last chance to have a table at the show... I told myself if I had 10 razors and 10 knives ready in time that I would get a table but I just don't know if that's going to happen.

Anyway, thegeek574, you need to block off that weekend from your calendar and do whatever it takes to make sure you're able to get down there, I really don't think you'll be disappointed!
