As some people know, I often wear a kilt, and most often a utilikilt. For a while I've been wanting to build "utilidirks" and sgian dubhs to match the american UK uniform (combat boots, UK, leather jacket)

Well, not having actually DONE this yet, a fellow BF member got me started by saying the sgian dubh idea sounded just right for deployments. He wants this blued, but....

Obviously, not done yet, but getting there- blade is 4 inches, OAL is a hair over 4 inches. Black micarta handle scales are designed with an angled portion for the palm of the hand. As a rule I don't do thin scales, but this is feeling pretty good in the hand.

Looks good, but I would like to see it from more of a direct on from the side view. The angle of the first photo doesn't show the knife very well.

this one might help. still working the hand 800 and strop on the edges, still thinking about rounding a bit more. The flats are nice and curved, but not fully rounded out, corners are soft but I'm not used to having corners at all.

Fully sharpened false edge back about 2 inches. I'm not terribly fancy with filework but I'll put a two sided pattern on. It's been suggested that I do one blued with ivory micarta, too. That might be nice.
