Wire clip needs tightening?

I've got a Sage II, and it's a great knife.
I like the wire clip, but it slides out of the pocket a little TOO easily.
Is this because the CF is slipperier than other scales?
The only other wire clip model I've had is the Chaparral,
which was CF too, and the knife slid out as easily.
Should I tighten up the wire clip by removing it
and bending it closer, or is this just normal for that clip?

Try pressing on the clip while pulling it out of your pocket, if it improves the feel bend the clip? If you don't like the bent one you can unbend it or order another from the SFO

*when bending a wire clip I find it easiest to bend it while having the clip installed 'backwards' (with the clip protruding past the end of the handle), this makes sure you don't bend the part that sits under the screw out of shape and make it hard to reinstall

Thanks for the tips! Holding it down does make it better,
but not a lot. The idea of installing backwards to tighten is brilliant.

The backwards tip is a very good one. Like you said the CF will always make it feel like it comes out of the pocket easier. I have 2 caly 3s, one CF and one G-10. I have swapped clips between the two and it makes no difference between the two. The CF is always less secure in the pocket.

I did see a mod where someone took 220 grit sandpaper and roughed the scale up just under where the radius of the clip presses into your pocket. It will give the scale just a bit of grip.

Hmm, that's an idea. Has anyone tried it? It sounds like you guys are ok with the retention.

Great tip with the backwards mount bending trick, JDunn709.
:D

If you're going to go sanding carbon fiber do it under running water or wear a respirator, apparently the dust is bad stuff to breathe in.

The wire clips are nice looking but I've experienced much more bending than traditional clips. Not a big deal as they are easily fixable. One other annoying quirk is that (some) models just won't allow the wire clip to fasten as tight as I'd like. All 3 of my Urbans have been this way.

Thank you for this tip.

I had no idea how to tighten it up without wrecking the clip.

Simple and effective.
