wire clip replacement

Does anyone make a conventional replacement pocket clip for the POS Spyderco wire clips? I am sure that I am not the only person who hates them. Loosen it up enough to work with Levi's and it will be too loose for cargo shorts. Not looking for bling or deep carry just something steel or titanium that is reasonably flexible.

Personally, I love the wire clips whether I'm in jeans or cargo shorts. Never had a problem with either. For those who don't, there is a member (here and the Spyderco Forums) who is supposedly working on a replacement. Hopefully, he'll chime in here or contact you and give you details.

we have come along ways these days, just the fact we have pocket clips on our folders is a blessing!our you could carry a buck 110 thats about 1lb in your pocket, and see how that feels.

Never had an issue with the wire clips. They are actually my preference and I wish there was an option to retrofit them to knives with the 3 bolt pattern. After I adjust them to my liking they work well on all my pants/shorts. What model are you having issues with?

P'kal. From the factory it is tight as a vise, just wants to bunch up material when drawing which only makes it tighter. I can tinker with it so it works on thin or thick pocket material but not both at the same time.

I've had three solid clips bend after around a month of carry each. Previous Manix 2 LW was EDC for almost 4 years without her ever even loosening...

I really like the wire clips. I've owned lots of Spydies with those clips and never a problem.

Wow! I'm really happy for all you guys who love their wire clips. I don't. Anybody have anything in response to the OP?

Given the way the wire clips are mounted, it's doubtful anyone makes a "conventional" solid metal clip that's a direct replacement for them. I'm fairly certain the OP's only realistic option would be to drill and tap the handle to accept a conventional 3 hole clip, or have someone do that for him. If he chooses to go that route then he has a lot of options. He can use one of the Spyderco factory clips, a clip from another knife company, a clip from one of the vendors that sell knife making supplies, or a hand crafted clip by any one of a number of custom makers.

I agree that the wire clips are awful and I now refuse to buy any Spyderco that has one. I've had to pass up several knives that I'd otherwise consider, but it's non-negotiable for me.
