Wire inlay,...gulp!

This is my first attempt to inlay wire. I realize I am sticking my neck out on this one. :) The blade is from a knife that was finished for a year, but I was'nt quite happy with it. I busted the handle off and changed the guard and here is what I came up with. I had to make my inlay tools, so they are very crude , but usable. I'm sure with practice the "tools" will get better:D . The wood is curley Maple and the wire is pure silver with some copper. The blade is 5160 and its 4 1/2 inch and the OAL is 9 inches. Lin

It's a heck of a lot nicer than others I've seen. It's really fantastic work.
Great job! You should be proud.

What are you talking about? That looks fantastic. It adds something special but really quite subtle to the whole knife. Beautiful!!

and the inlay is quite nice.

Well done.

That must be your first attempt after a LOT of practice, it looks like you've been at it a while. Nice design too, I like the way you used the copper accents. Something like this might be nice on your competition knife once you refinish it...:D

Coulda Fooled me,that being your first attempt.I thought I was looking at a $1000 J. Hendrickson MS hunter.Damn Good Job!!!

Thanks guys. Jose, I am actually considering doing just that. I will go ahead and make another competition knife and would like for it to have some discreet inlay. I really appreciate the kind remarks, Lin

Yeah, really well done, Lin. I tried wire inlay once myself... didn't come out anywhere near as nice as that...
