I did not know what a wire jack was until a few years ago. Wife was cutting boxes and tape (not sure if she was my wife yet, so it may have been longer). Using a knife I'd never seen before. "Uh...can I see that a second?" Double take. Internet research. "Uh, here's a nice Imperial sodbuster jr...that other knife needs to be taken care of." I cleaned it up. It was her grandfather's. By far the nicest of the four I own. I've shown these two on here before. The red one was hers:

Just picked two more up. Neat knives to collect because not many people collect them and you can pick them up cheap. Neat history of course. And one of the neater designs of anything I have ever seen. Can't believe it never caught on more.

Interesting knives.

I've seen those around but I never did know what they were called.

I just learned something new.:)

Make that today for me:) Quick question, so the top bar is actually the backspring right? It folds over into the back square?

Glad I could share some info...I've learned a ton here, it's good to give some back. Yeah, the blade is one piece, the body is one piece and the bar acts as the spring. Ingenious design. The idea was to make a cheap, simple user. Neat history here: http://www.guycard.com/wirejack.htm

I can post links right? As long as it is not sales? If not, I'll take it down, but that will tell you everything I know.

Wow ..... kinda like an easy open, barehead, bare-everything Jack! ;) Thanks for sharing, Dan. I never knew they existed until right now!!!

Cool. That was exactly my reaction when I saw my wife's. How come I never saw this before?!?!? :)

What you might call a "minimalist" design.

Thanks for posting that. If I have seen something like that, it was a long, long time ago. So long ago I'm not sure if it's a real memory.

Yep. And it works great. Locks up nice and tight. Really good knives.

awesome thanks a lot! saw a folding spork some time back but no knives
will look for them too, too nice not to have

I wonder why they dont make them any more, thay must be great workers, structure seems pretty sturdy

I never knew what a wire jack was until just now. Very interesting, but rather sterile looking. Now to just have someone put some jigged bone slabs on it and they'll be complete...:D

I believe they/Schrade made a separate fork & spoon too.

Schrade made two sets with knife, fork and spoon which came in a leather pouch. One set for boys scouts with the red steel blade cover and one set for girl scouts with a green steel blade cover. By cover I mean as in the first pic up top, the red insert on the handle.

Man, now I gotta find the fork and spoon! ;)

Thanks for all the info and the link (Jake). Man, 4.50 for a dozen. Fire up the time machine!

Glad everyone's enjoying it. I highly recommend getting one. They're neat.
