Wire pocket clip trouble

I Love my sage 2, everything from the ti scales, the s30v, and even the above mentioned wire clip. However I am having some trouble with the clip bending out with use (i know this is to be expected a little)

I primarily am in khakis (business casual) and i didn't think that they (or even jeans really) would cause the clip to bend far enough back to have fallen out of my pocket.

Anyway don't want to whine, just looking to see if any one else ran into this and if so how you fixed it.

Sorry. The only wire clip I have is on a Native 3 and mine has never bent.

I got my dad a caly 3 zdp and he lost it within a couple weeks because the clip bent.

Did you try tightening the screw that holds the clip in? The screw on my wife's cat comes loose from time to time and causes the clip to "bend" out.

I've never had any problems with the wire clips on my Caly's. Either the clip screws were a little loose or you guys have bent the heck out of those clips. I have found that some wire clips do not always sit flush to the scale - there may be a slight gap. That may be more of a problem with the Sage 2 because the titanium scale is very smooth.

I'd recommend using the search feature on the forums. I'm sure others have asked about this. I think some may have just taken a pair of pliers and gently worked the clip back to the original shape. Otherwise, you can order a new clip from Spyderco.

I've used four wire clips now and find them less prone to catching on stuff than other types. Maybe work environment makes a big difference. I've never actually had one lose tension from the thickness of a pocket seam either.

maybe im just rough on mine.... No real complaint just wanted to hear if i was an anomaly or if this was commonplace.

Thank for the input

I've carried my Caly 3 CF with a wire clip for 4 or 5 years now and never bent the clip or had any issues with it. Every other knife I have carried (that didn't have a wire clip) in the same pocket I've bent the clip. I got a new CRK Sebenza a few weeks ago. I bent that clip the first day I carried it.

I have flat out broken clips off of my Endura when the clip would snag on something.

The clip on my Sage 1 was tweaked out just slightly from the factory.

I removed it, gave it a little bit of a twist, bolted it back up and it seated very nicely again.

What do your clips catch on?

I found the clip on the Military would catch on steel chairs while staking them, most other clips didn't (I think the square corners are partially to blame). To reduce (not eliminate) the problem I started bending clips so that the very tip is always pointing toward the handle at an angle (maybe 20 or 30 degrees), when the clip is sliding along a flat surface it is more likely to deflect things away instead of catching them.

I kind of appreciated the old integral FRN clips for that reason. IMO it would probably help if the wire clips used a little thicker wire.
