Wire Pocket Clips

Just got a Spyderco Techno and on day one I caught the clip on an office chair and mangled it. I fixed it but it's just not quite the same. It's my first experience with the wire clips, is it a standard size among their knives or are they tailored to each model? Also can I just buy like 10 of them from anywhere to have handy? Thanks!

Not a hundred percent sure on the size but you can call or email Spyderco for a price for the clips.

If its any consolation, I have mangled clips from my Military, Endura, and Delica on office chairs. So its not just the wire clips.

Just out of curiosity...why do so many people like these clips? I have seen people around here on the forums who LOVE this style. I don't have a knife with this style of clip, so I wouldn't know.

I think they're aesthetically clean and simple looking, they're unobtrusive, and they offer good retention.

To me its surprisingly strong, it looks like a paper clip so you wouldnt think it can do the job, but it is hardened. I like it because I live in the middle of a big city and wire clips are good option for concealment as They practically disappear in the pocket. It saves some negligible weight also. European, do you have a youtube channel with the same name? If so, thumbs up.

Oh and it allows the knife's design to show better being less obtrusive like what eaglescouter said.

As noted, they can be ordered from SFO. There are at least three different versions, but if you tell them what knife you have, you will get the correct one.

Not long ago, I ordered a UKPK and it had the wire clip. Will all wire clips fit the same slots/ attachment area? Because if I'm not mistaken, there is a deep carry wire clips and I'd like to swap for that.

They all fit the same slots. But some are longer than others. For example, the dragonfly wire clip is shorter than the Caly 3.5 wire clip.

I'd like to change out my translucent Manix 2 clip for a deep one as well. Just haven't gotten around to it.

I think the clip and the screw are like $8-$9 shipped.

No. Not all wire clips are interchangeable. The Meerkat clip won't fit anything else. The wide one with the "barrel bolt" screw that's used on the Native III, D'Allaras, Assists, and possibly one or two others won't fit any models but those. However, all the wire clips retained by a single Torx screw are interchangeable, although some may be too long, or too short for a given knife. So yes, you could order a Caly 3/Sage series style low rider clip for your UKPK.

Hello, this is probably dumb but, how do they catch on office chairs? i have never had wire clips so i don't know. I'm thinking about getting a ukpk so i want to know what to avoid.

Wide body, narrow chair perhaps. Almost all clips, wire or otherwise, have a raised "tab" at the end which makes it a lot easier to attach them to your pocket, but which can also snag on various things, like the arms of a chair.

Ohhhhhhh. Thank you :)

I like the wire clip because it seems more resistant to scratching up cars when I work on them. No sharp corners.

I have scratched my car with my Delica's clip so many times sliding into it when parked too close to the next car!!!

The new Ti UKPK I just got seems to solve that problem. No more sharp edges.

Also the paint on those other clips chips off over time, where the polished wire clip seems to hold up real well.
