Ok all you electrical guru's out there HELP!

I'm getting set to purchase a grinder and have lucked out on a brand new Balador TEFC 1.5hp single phase motor on Ebay for less than $70.00 shipped.

My problem is that it is standard NEMA 7 wire connection and I have no idea what goes to load, common, etc. I have the option of wiring it for 115V or 230V at my bench., the wires are standard NEMA colors and numbers, "High Std" (CCW rotation I presume) shows on the nameplate as Line A connect to 1, Line B connect to 4,5 and Join 2,3 finally join 8,9. I presume that Line A/B refer to the two 230v Hot's, but where does the common go? I'd like to wire a switch...

Can anyone help?

If you're not sure on the wiring, I highly recommend asking a professional for help or bringing it to a motor repair shop. They could wire a switch for you for a nominal fee. Miswiring the motor could permanently damage it or kill you, so get help if you have any doubts.

Thanks guys, I am at the point where a professional is called for. This is such a nice motor and I got it for a song...I sure wouldn't want to damage it...

If you can give me the Baldor Cat. # or the spec. # off of the motor nameplate I can give you the connection diagram.
Been a Baldor warranty center for too many years to count.

Hi,
Here is a link to a wiring diagram for your motor from the Baldor
website: wiring diagram.
It's an Adobe document; if you don't have a reader installed you can download a free one here.
Regards,
Greg

ripper pointed you to the right diagram. if you don't understand that or the connection plate on the motor; pay someone to connect it. elecricity is not for everyone. mike
