I have a temporary motor I plan to use for my 2 by 72 while I work on getting a kbac 27d and a three phase motor.
Since it will be a temporary motor I don't want to spend a lot of money on getting it working. I am not very knowledgeable in wiring and am wondering if I could just take an extension cord I have laying around and wire it up using that, The extension cord is seems to be able to handle the specs of the motor and would save time and money for a motor I won't be using much. So my question, Would this work or do I need to just get a soow cable and wire a plug onto it? The motor is a single phase 1.5 hp motor from marathon.

You can wire it up with some lumex and a light switch for $5 and save your extension cord. If not your cord will be fine but you will want a switch.

what is lumex? and I was looking at one of those stop start switches that you just plug the cord into. Thank you for the info, I'll definitely look into lumex and see what I can find.

Thank you for the information. I have a light switch kicking around that was taken out and I'll look into attaching that to my cable for an easy on and off switch. and part of the reason I was looking at the extension cord was because it already had a wall plug on it that would save me the need to wire one up, but I will look into it further. Thank you.

I think he means romex. It’s residential wire. Though not ideal an extension cord will work just fine.
