Wisconsin State ID and Driver's Liscense Help

Hi,

I have a unique situation and no one has been able to give me a good answer.

I go to college in Wisconsin and rent an apartment here. But my license, insurance, and taxes are at my parents in Illinois.

Is it possible to get a Wisconsin State ID card? I don't want to giving up my license or screw up my insurance or taxes, or my parents taxes by changing my residency.

Yeah, I've already read through the Wisconsin DOT page.

Maybe I didn't phrase my questions correctly.

I believe I could get a Wisconsin ID card, but I don't know if this would affect my IL license, insurance, or taxes. That is what no one has been able to tell me.

If you reside in Il for school, it should have NO bearing on taxes/DL/insurance for another state, that only gets changed when you file legal tax forms changing state residency for IRS. It is a simple an Identification Card. You will be fine.
