I got my copy of the new Lofty Wiseman survival DVD a few days ago. After watching it a few times I think that it's a pretty good video for anyone interested in suvival and the outdoors. It's around 2 1/2 hours long, and there's not a ton of advanced techniques, but many things that we all should know how to do very well. John Wiseman is who wrote "The SAS Survival Handbook" and some other survival books. I got my copy through www.Bestglide.com and it's around $34.00. The name is "Survival Skills with Lofty Wiseman".

I have the video but haven't watched it yet.
 
Thanks Jeff for the heads up on the other videos! I'm going to order the master dvd from them.
 
I have the master DVD and it doesn't get into a lot of detailed skills but the overall presentation is excellent for anyone wanting to teach their kids, family, etc. the basics of survival.
 
I haven't seen any fron Ron Hood yet, though there are a couple I'm thinking of buying.
 
How does learning from a DVD compare to reading a book? I have obviously watched a DVD for some training, but I like being able to a book with me when I try something instead of hitting pause & then trying to run out & try it. That being said I have seen some great shooting courses on DVD that help by seing how a person moves.
 
I have almost all of the hoods DVD's looking to add the Lofty one soon.... I keep wavering due to the $35 + shipping for one DVD....
 
I know what you mean about the $34.00 plus shipping. I waited a few weeks and purchased a few other things from them so I wasn't just paying for 1 item.

I have shopped there a number of times.... they have had alot of my cash. :D

That's the problem with all these books and vidz! I have like 25-30 books on the subject and none of them will take me to the next level. They all say the same things. Some of them even have the same illustrations!

It's like they all read each others work and wrote their own books.
 
I just got the Wiseman video. Ordered it after reading this post. Very good video. Haven't seen anything I didn't learn in Boy Scouts yet but I am not quite through it either.

Thanks for recommending it. It will be a great teaching tool for the kids.
