Purchased this 2"x48" Dayton almost 3 years ago, and it has been my primary tool for making knives. I'm currently designing a professional 2"x72" belt grinder build. But it will be sometime before I can afford it.(because I'm so cheap, LOL). Problem is, I have several knives to get done and had to make my normal belt order from True Grit. I didn't want to order anymore 2x48 belts, in case I finished the full 2x72 earlier than anticipated. So I got to thinking and figured how to convert my trusty Dayton to a 2x72.
Piece of 1/2" thick 7075 t6 billet & a 3" idler wheel from Oregon Blade Makers.

Also had the notion to make this mount for the tool rest. Gives me the ability to set a specific angle, and does not move!
And here is the first knife I ground the bevels on. Man, I wish I had done this sooner! It only cost about $50 to do. I love saving money on things!
