Now a fisherman (fisherperson?) might well want to open a folding knife one-handed, especially if there's a fish in the other hand. And once upon a time there were cheap but useful plastic-handled "balisongs" from Finland in fishing catalogs.
Looking at my BM42, which is politically correct around here in California only as long as I don't carry it on my person or in the passenger section of my car, I see a little room for maneurver in blade shapes. How about a 4" fishing knife, flat ground to the spine, with no false edge? Have the titanium handle anodized in a rainbow hue leaning toward gold, to symbolize one of the prettiest game fish in North America. Advertise it in fishing circles, not martial arts circles. Name it for the year of the California Gold Rush, and hand out a few early production samples to some folks in the Legislature here to say, "Behold! These are nice knives and not nasty knives!"
