I start work at 9:00am pacific time. I'm starting work at Shell gas station as a clerk. It doesn't sound like much, but after not working for as long as I have, it is a huge relief. My girlfriend has been supporting me for about 2 years.

Before a couple years ago, I was a surf instructor for Club Ed Surf School at Cowells beach in Santa Cruz. I loved that job, but quit after three years because the owner would not promote me due to the fact that I wouldn't quit smoking ciggs (even tho some "master instructors" smoked as well). Now my GF of 3 years won't have to support me or my knife addiction anymore:thumbup:.

I've tried my luck as a freelance tattoo artist, and it has not worked out for me. I've tried to become an apprentice at local shops to no avail. So I'm very excited to do something with my days except eat bacon and frequent the local skatepark.

You better believe I'm going to show my presence much more at the trough!

Good luck man. I can understand how you feel. The Cali market for work is crazy bad. I am supporting my mother who can't find a job in the Bay Area for the last 3 years. I'm glad you are back in the work force.
 
Congrats!!! On the job. With such a difficult job market....ever thought about leaving?

Granted I hate Louisiana, but it is usually the opposite. Choosing which job you want seems to be the norm.
 
Good Luck brother, Much respect, hope it all works out well. Maybe you should consider a celebratory knife? :D
 
Maybe you should consider a celebratory gift for your very obviously understanding GF ;).

You ever think about relocating?

Lots of jobs in this part of the state right now and lower cost of living than the coast by far. On weekends you can still go up there if that is your thing.

I have been hiring since we opened a few months ago and still struggling to find quality help.
