Im about to put my sebenza in the wicked edge. gonna try to give it one of those pretty mirror edges yall always tease me with. I think im gonna go 17 degrees per side. Pics will come soon. Thanks - Stanley

I'd just match the existing bevels. I've mirror polished many blades and S30 steels seem to do much better with a slightly toothy edge. (600 grit). Good luck.

I think your right, i took it out of the device after 600 grit and it cut really aggressively, i liked it alot but continued because ive never had a mirror edge knife before. I may change it back next time around. I went 17 degrees each side with a 16 degree micro bevel with ceramic then stropped it at 17 with 5 and 3.5 micron paste. Im pretty proud of it, i just got the sharpener and only did one knife before i thought i was ready to throw the sebenza in there. These phone pics make me wish i hadnt traded my slr for knives...

I did the ceramic also, i just wanted to try the 600 grit edge rev suggested. wicked edge is awesome

That looks great. ;)
The 600 grit suggestion came to me in a roundabout sort of way. I had a S30V blade mirror polished (to 8k grit then Mothers Polish) at 15 degrees per side and found it looked great, but would not cut on par with what I had expected. I made sure I checked my bevels and had no burr. I went backwards starting at 1000 grit and found it cut better with less effort. Eventually, I settled on 600 and stuck with a 20 degree per side with a 15 degree 2nd bevel.

Part of the fun is checking to see what works best for a specific steel.
