Can anyone picture it? Was just cruising the exchange and think a Sebenza with a hump and hole would be freaking awesome

Don't get a Sage 2 thinking you'll never be able to justify getting a sebenza.

You will. 😜

And that's OK!

I already consider the Sage 2 to be about as close as you can come to a "Spybenza".
I love the Sage 2 but I want like the exact handle and blade shape and setup, just throw in the hole and a little bit of a thumb ramp

Yeah I guess I should've added something like... "In it's price range I already consider the Sage 2 to be about as close as you can come to a "Spybenza". I realize the Sage 2 will never equal a Seb but I do think it's pretty good for the price. Someday/somehow I'll end up with a small Seb.... :-)

 That would be interesting!

I've been coming here, and Spyderco's own forum, since 2003. Don't think a year's ever gone by without this idea being suggested and the answer is always the same. Chris Reeve has no interest in using the Spyderhole and, as much as I love Spyderco knives, even assuming Chris Reeve would allow them to copy the Sebenza, it still would not be a Sebenza. Hate to say it, but I think the only way you'll ever see something that looks like a Sebenza with a Spyderhole is if one of the Chinese clone makers does a mix 'n match.

Have you ever seen and handled a Spyderco Gayle Bradley? I have a Sebbie and a GB, I vote GB the better of the two. Don't take this wrong, both are awesome tough folders. If you are not familiar with this model here is some info from Gayle Bradley and others.

My GB is one of my most carried knives. I guess looking at it the Nirvana its somewhat similar to a Sebenza. So maybe it will satisfy my need

I agree with this. My GB is the smoothest, most well built knife I own. I love the Sebenza but I think a lot of the hype is built up a bit too far on them. If they were priced at $80-$100 do you think everyone would be so gaga over them? Or would they just be another nice knife at a good value. This is a trend that happens with everything. You throw a huge price tag on an item and all of a sudden it's the best there is. There are lots of knives out there that are half the price of a Sebenza that are built just as well and function just as smooth.

Slysz Bowie is the closest, IMO, to being a Sebenza-like Spyderco. It's not quite up to par with a CRK, but it's very, very close.

I carry it instead of my Sebenzas. 😉

I don't like the pointy little thumb stud on the Sebenza, else I might have gotten one.

But I loves me some Spydie holes!

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for Chris Reeve to put a Spydie hole on a Seb, though.

This is very true. The SB is better than the Sebbie with tighter pants/pockets due the the more slender feel. Really excellent knife. Seems like a picture is in order...

I would much rather have a Salbenza for many reasons but especially because they run their steel a bit harder.

Here are my two Salbenzas. ;)

Have you ever handled a CRK??

When the sebenza came out, it was in a league of its own.
In recent years, a lot of knifemakers have upped their game, and came very very close to the sebenza......
As far as l know, noone has surpassed that buildquality.
Yes there are many great knives out there, tough, wellbuilt, cheaper......

For me however, the simplicity, no-nonsense looks and pure funcionality is the best l ever handled.

Being a benchmark of quality for over 20 years is just a unique achievement.
And with the recent addition of the 25 and Inkosi, they will be a benchmark of quality for a few more years

That quality has a price though, just like owning a customized Rolls royce!
Yes, a merc will suffice, rolls winns hands down though
( no, never driven one, probably never will)

If the f&f on the Slysz Bowie is like my Techno, it has to be getting close. Except for the paper clip. They deserve better.

Much as I love my CRK's, I can't honestly say the 25/Inkosi direction represents completely positive direction and/or improvement. The bushing pivot is one of the quintessential Sebenza elements that justifies the price IMHO. The fingergrooves fight with the clip on the 25. Hopefully the bearing lockface will prove out to be as successful long term as the original RIL (the minimal contact area could potentially wear the blade contact surface much quicker and I've seen evidence to that point).

How many of you that are trying to compare the Gayle Bradley to a CRK have even handled or used a CRK?...........

Let's compare apples to apples.

Yep, I have a GB and several CRK's. And a Slysz Bowie.

that's clearly the sage 2, homage to the sebenza and the RIL. other then that you have the slysz bowie, which has some good features over the 21, but there would never a collaboration with Chris Reeves's name on it, he has out of this world standards that spyderco will not waste a fortune on achieving. So no collaboration between the two.
