I had the pleasure this afternoon of sharing a winter solstice fire with some good close friends. Started it with some of my tinder. We called in the spirits of the four quarters, shared some thoughts and sang some Christmas songs. Then we ate a leg of lamb with red potatoes. The lady who cooked the lamb asked me to carve it, then showed me a totally disreputable collection of dull stainless steel knives. So I had to pull out my razor sharp homemade belt knife to carve the meat. Nobody got freaked. It was a great dinner, attended by wine, and then they actually lit real candles on the tree. I've never seen that before in my life! It was a great evening. I hope you all have some of the same in the next few days.

By nightfall I will have all the In-Laws and outlaws at my house for dinner.

Tis the season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
May your stockings be filled with blades, knife sharpeners, and survival kits.

Merry Christmas everyone. Wishing you and your families all the best!

Remember what Jacob Marley said:

"It is required of every man," the Ghost returned, "that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellowmen, and travel far and wide...
---------

"Business!" cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. "Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!"
