Aside from a which that can cast a spell, witch of these four is best for a patina on 1095 and T10?

1) Fresh from the tree raw Red Apple

2) Fresh from the bush Love Apple (AKA: "Tomato")

3) Fresh from the dirt raw potato/squash/turnip, or fell off the truck today or yesterday, raw white sugar beet

4) Fresh from the vine raw Peach, Lemon or Lime

How do you rank these from "best" to "don't bother - a waist of time."?

I've not tried sugar beets, but I'm guessing they'd be like a sweet potato.

So, that being said, I'd go with tomato for color. Potatoes tend to leave a blackish patina. Apples are more a light grey brown.

Spicy peppers are my favorite. Jalapenos are great for color.

That being said I like to not wash em right away. I let the blades sit with goop on em until its dried. Then hot dishsoapy water and that patina will pop real nice.

An Patina experiment began.

Wrapped the punch blade on my 852211 Harness Jack in moist fresh from the can/tin Wintergreen (rock gut) long cut Seneca chew/dip, to see if it will patina that 1095 blade.

I think I'll give it until 08:00 ~ 09:30, 09/08/0002020 to work on any potential patina. :)

Waste, shoulda chewed it first.
It's true, some of the stuff out there these days, does require a rock gut.

19:10 update ...
Golly, it is ... difficult ...to wait ...

Anyway, I just checked for any progress. Perhaps 40 to 50 pieces of chew did discolor the steel ... almost looks like them itty bitty teeny weeny worms I used to feed my goldfish and male Beta's. (sorry, that was ... 41 or 42 years ago. I don't recall the breed or species of worm it is.)
Even wrapped inna napkin, the tobacco was getting a mite dry, so I dampened the "kleenex".

I'm pretty sure, but not 100% positive, this 852211 Harness Jack is going into my pocket 09/008/0002020, after I wake up, along with my 610211 "Half Congress" and a 1960's (I don't think it's a 1950's or earlier) "ULSTER/KNIFE USA" Number 10 Barlow. :D

Tomato paste - does not move around on the blade like liquids can and works reasonably fast.
