Well first let me say that this post is about a physical (health) problem possibly relating to the bali, on which i want your opinions. but now...

...LET'S HAVE A TOAST FOR ALL THE INCREDIBLE NEWS AS OF LATE!!!!

ok, back to the serious stuff...I have just moved into a new place and have been manipulating about 10 times more often than i had been for the past year or so. Over the course of the past few days i'v started to have an odd pain in my upper forearm, just below the elbow on the inside...just to the right of the large promenant vein often visibel just past the end of the bicepe. (ok, hope you have a vague idea of where i mean now:rolleyes: ) I pretty much only feel it when i extend my arm out and down, twisting my wrist counterclockwise, and stretching the muscles in my forearm...oh, and when i swing. I lift weights on a regular basis and thought it may have had something to do with that untill i noticed it a lot while manipulating tonight, and in odd ways. I am 100% sure its a nerve thing, judging by the symptoms and comments by an instructor at school. Sometimes it's just a slight but sharp pain in one spot, and sometimes it travels a good bit down my forearm. A descent sized area, maybe 1.5 X 2.5 inches on my upper forearm is actually semi numb. When i manipulate it feels as though something is routinely bumping into the nerve. My best guess is that the repetitive motion of manipulating caused the something to more just enough to contact the nerve in there. Now the fact that it's a nerve problem makes it sound similar to carpal tunnel syndrome, but it is not at all in the right place and i dont think i've been manipulating nearly enough for that to be an issue. mainly i'm just curious if anyone has experienced anything like this, or has any other input on the matter of course. thanks for reading past the toast at the top ;)

Hi Masse,

Sorry to hear about your physical problem. I had a very similar problem some time ago (maybe you can still find my old post with the search function, but I doubt it) and I started to panic because I tought I had something like carpal tunnel syndrome, however the pain wasn't in my wrist, but also more "inside" the top of my forearm.
I went to a doctor, and he said it was nothing, but I still had my pain.
I went to my ostheo-something (don't know the name in english) and she told me I probably pinched a nerve by resting my arm on the edge of my desk while I'm working on my computer. She also said that some of here "clients" had the same problem from resting their elbow on a hard surface. I quit flipping for a while and used to put a towel or something soft to rest my arm on while using my comp. The pain went over after a while.

I hope you found my rantings helpful :)

Have you been by stupid health about it? You may have stressed your suprascapular nerve. Is your hand numb when you wake up? A freind who is a chef and does like 10,000 cuts a day has CTS, and he descibes similar symtoms to yours. Get it looked at. Besides, isn't that your 12oz curling arm also? Be a shame to get sidelined this early in the semester! LOL:D

Thanks for the responses guys...i'm thinkin i'm gonna go easy on the flippin for a few days and see how it feels before i go have it looked at. fortunately it doesnt hurt except when doing specific movements so at least i'm not in constant pain. On the other hand i already have a pinched nerve in my back for which i'v done all sorts of things to help, with no luck. Over the past few years i'v gone through many a period where it was just about too painful to sit, stand, or move in any way. It's probobly this prior nerve experience that has me so worried now. anyway, i'm sure i'll be fine.

Hoplophile: I notice you're in chapel hill!! I went to high school there, my dad still lives there, i work there and am there every few days, but am here at NC State for school. You ever been to The Loop down in Eastgate?!?! Let me know...

sounds like "tennis elbow" I get it from wrapping meat at my job. you can buy a brace that goes around your forearm to help support it while you heel.
