My oldest daughter has mentioned that my grandson wanted one of my knives for display untill he is old enough to use it. (he`s 12 now). This weekend he stayed with my wife and me while his parents went out of town. I figured I would let him help me make his own knife without him knowing it was for him. He did all of the polishing on the blade by hand and sanded the walnut handles by himself. When we were done I told him it was his, I never saw him get so excited by anything besides video games or fishing, time well spent!

Sounds like you had a great apprentice...what a wonderful post!
Thanks for sharing your special time spent with your Grandson, John!

Can I be your grandson?!? :D

Seriously, what a nice bonding experience you had with him. I'm glad he was so enthusiatic and happy afterwards! ( I know I would have been)
