Here's part of an email I received from Pappy on the 24th. I asked Pappy for permission to post it and he graciously gave me that this evening....

be able to spend more time on the computer in the near future. This thing
is in the coldest room in the house but, we are starting to have some pretty
warm days now. The sun has been out a few times today so it is warming up
quite a bit. We'll mostly likely hit some where close to 80 degrees before
1:00 P.M.
I need to try and thank all on the forum for all the prayers and well
wishes. The Doc. told me yesterday that if I hadn't started treatment when
we did I probably would not have made it at all. and even so he says it
looked to him that I had a lot of outside help. He finally asked me if I was
a believer. I told him if he was referring to Jesus and the Lord... Yes I
believe.
Any way the tumor in the left lung has gone from 5 Centimeters down to 2.
the one on the top of the liver they can't find any more. The damage to the
Pelvic bone was so bad that I will probably have to use the crutches and
some times the wheel chair. I don't figure that is too bad, when I could be
in a box already."

Keep the Smoke going up for Pappy and the rest of the folks who need it.

Good to hear that about Pappy. Thanks for posting it, bro.

Thank you Yvsa.

I was pretty much off-line for the first two months of this year, and in my looking over the many posts, didn't really catch on to the severity of Pappy's illness, alhough I did a couple of searches after a saw a post.--I just saw that he was kinda sick and had some "browser problems".

I was getting close to asking if anybody knew how he was. I musta missed something.

Sh*t.

Sounds like he's still got he fight and that's what counts. My mom has had the fight for about 20 years, and it does work. Tell him I said so.

Matches, where'd I put them? Oh here. Pssthicttt.

Yvsa,
Pappy doesn't have his email address in his profile, so please pass along to him our thoughts and prayers. I'll bet he's been in some tough spots before and has come through. Smoke and prayers still going up from the east.

Steve

Personally, I am not only gratified that Pappy has come as far as he has, but also hoping fervently that he is able to keep his motorcycle in tune until he is able to ride it into town for a couple of cool ones on me at the Dog & Duck.

Steve
I emailed Pappy a while ago and put a link to Munk's thread and this thread so Pappy would maybe know a bit sooner just how many people here care for him and are sending smoke, saying prayers, and wishing him well during his troubles.
I did it figureing that he might check his email more than he does the forum, hopefully I got it right but either way Pappy will see these.:)

Steve I sent you Pappy's email address so you could drop him a line.
Anyone wanting to wish Pappy well and that doesn't have his email address please drop me a line and I will send it to you.
I for one know that it's wonderful to know that friends and family are thinking of you when you're down and out.
I always like to get email even though I might be slow in answering it back.:)

Thanks, Yvsa, for that copy of email. Good news as I view it.

Hang in, Pappy. We have our death day written and prayer generally will not change that but what it can go is make the path to death day a lot easier to negotiate. When I pray for myself which is not very often that's the prayer I send. I have my own personal story regarding prayer and puja which I'm waiting on for awhile before I post anything about it.

6 months ago the local experts told me I had a cancer in left kidney. Well, if it's a cancer it has decided to quit growing and has also decided to let the kidney operate normally. Within the last month after 5 days in the hospital, every test known to man run on me, $5000 worth of xrays including PET scan, locals sent me to SFO for biopsy cautioning me that my chances of NOT having pancreatic cancer (a veritable death sentence) were running about 10%. Well, I'm in the 10 percent. Not out of the woods by any means but sometimes things don't go exactly as the docs predict.

I'm right in there with you, Pappy. It ain't over 'till it's over.
