See comments below RE identifying Authentic v Clone: Benchmade Griptilian Blue Class 550BK-1

Note: Bought off big online retailer a while ago, seller claimed to be authorized dealer. Watch out.

For those who don’t have a comparison I left photo’s of highly likely clone up:

The "C" on the box "BENCHMADE" is too large and out of place. This is a classic sign of a clone/fake.

Sorry about that. I'm new to the forums.
I'm not a benchmade expert, but the "C" on the box is something I've noticed and that has been noted elsewhere. I'm sure someone else might weigh in that knows better.

My private message not working I need to renew my membership. Sorry for the clutter on your post. Yes, highly likely clone. The box sku# has first and last number on edges. Font for the knife looks off, grey scales is lighter and dosen't have the grainy look. Is the blade coated on the round part that touches the axis lock? Real ones are always uncoated. Hows the inside of the box? You can tell by the foam and if the knife came in a plastic bag too.

No problem thanks for weighing in.
All cross posts on hold.

Seems too well made and bought from credible source but I guess you never know and I definitely want to be 100% sure. I’ll post inside of box, close up scales, as much of the blade I can get and pouch. Let me know, appreciate it.

Based on that video, not comfortable until physically checked out but doesn’t look promising. Thank you H HiramAbiff owe you one.

Admins I’ll leave it up for YouTube vid but please remove if against rules.

People have been known to purchase knives from legit retailers, but then return a clone. It is a problem with purchasing blades from Amazon for sure.

Someone else had also mentioned return/swap was a big prob with these. Likely the case.

Definitely looks like a clone. The G10 is off. Color looks wrong and it is lacking the "wood grain" texture and the blue and grey layers do not come together cleanly. They look glued together instead of milled as a single piece. The Chicago screws are backwards-those for the standoffs and the pivot-all have the slots on the show side. The box is off in several ways too, like the foam and the sticker being backwards.
