WK II Winkler Sayoc RnD Hawks with spike

I would never use this for bushcraft, infact i would use that for nothing because the only possible purpose for it is to hurt someone...

Split wood with it and you ruind your handle.
Sorry to say but it seem that the person who designed this did not have bushcrafting in mind.

the log you attempt to split will inevitably hit the sides of the overly long handle, thus causing damage over time.

maybe some other members would be more apt to answer that question, for utility purpose tho, id recommand a good old hatchet ;)

I have a CCF tomahawk I use when camping it's essentially just a heavy hammer poll tomahawk but it fits my needs great it chops and splits and has a nice hammer on the back. Unfortunatly Steve is retiered but if you google "beaver bill" you will find a site with some nice examples at reasonable prices.

ah thank for the explanation. SO what tomahawk do you think is best for utility purposes

If you want a Winkler, check out the camp axe or combat axe.
You'll likely never need to buy another one; Daniel makes excellent tools if you can get past the price.

I would agree. Just received my combat axe and cannot be more pleased.

Not with the Sayoc RnD he did not. I have the non-spike version, and it is designed for one purpose. Could you bushcraft with the non-spike version? If you had to I suppose.

Anyone got an extra?

Check BladeHQ . They carrier some of his stuff from time to time. Daniel Is a great guys putting out an amazing product. I went to college near where his shop is...in Blowing Rock. He let me come check it out a few years back. Great guy putting out really quality work. His more traditional pieces were amazing. IF you end up ordering something from him just know the wait is worth it.

Has anyone with one snap or chip a spike (on any model)? 5160 is no chump steel; Daniel Winkler sounds like he knows a thing or two about heat treat (among other things) pertaining to a hawk.

I have used mine decently hard, and have had no issues. It holds up well. They're worth the money.
