It's been a good/bad knife month for me. It was good in that I got my Hideaway :D

And bad in that I lost my trusty old all stainless steel Endura :(

Sure it looked like crap and needed to be resharpened again and part of the blade was chipped off, but damn it was a good knife. I'd never ever consider returning it simply because of all the abuse I put it through. It was the best use of my hard earned $45.

Well fact is I need to replace it. I feel naked without my old reliable folder.

I could easily get another Endura a lot like the one I had and be happy, but since I'm back in the market for another Spyderco for boring daily use I thought hey why not have some fun and see what everyone else carries. The Endura was great but here's a chance to try something new and maybe something else will be even better.

I liked the size of the Endura. I also liked what I consider to be a thick blade. While the weight did present one little problem I'll address in a second here, I did like the fact that it was a solid knife with a solid lock. I have thick, awkward fingers on a pair of larger than average hands but the Endura seemed to be just the right size. Only things I had a nitpick with were the fact that the Endura seems to ride high in the pocket, the clip had to be constantly adjusted (although that's probably because of me pulling it out and putting it back every 10 seconds), I never could quite wrist flick it consistently because it's so solid, and it seems like some of the other models may be in its size range and price range and may be better for every day chores.

My main question is have any of you gone from an Endura to another model for EDC? It'll be a little while until I get to replace it so I'm drooling over some of the other Spydies. The Scorpius looks like it may fit the bill but then there's the Calypso Jr. still floating around and the Centofante III is sweet too... They're a little smaller but the ergonomics look good... arrrrrgh someone help me!

I went from an Endura to a Military and haven't looked back.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It is a tough break to lose a knife. I recommend a strong look at the C36 Military model.

Regards.

I am yet another Endura to Military convert. I have EDC'd the S30V Millie for a year now and have yet to find anything to dethrone it.

Yet another vote for the S30V Military. I bought mine last Saturday, and heven't looked back. My VG10 PE Endura has been replaced, and I'm sold. Even being a Lefty it's no problem, it's size makes it easy to get it into position, as I draw it.
I've put it through the paces cutting boxes, etc this week, and that full flat ground blade cuts with ease!

I don't own the Military but I carried an Endura for years. If you're sold on the form factor of the Endura then you should love the Military. It is definately a souped up Endura. The biggest differance in my opinion is the change to tip-up. If you're willing to go a little smaller you may want to take a look at the new Paramilitary. By the time you save your money up they should be easy to find.

Sorry I cant be much help. Im a new Delica devotee. Good luck!! Im convinced you just cant go wrong with a Spydie. Especially the VG-10-AMAZING!!!!!

Don't tell Celtech's younger brother, but you should be more pleased than Punch with any of the following:

Endura (Stainless or FRN)
Delica (Stainless of FRN)
Calypso Jr.
Native (Lightweight or Native III)
Salsa
Dodo
Meerkat
Vesuvius

There are the more expensive models, too, and they're very awesome, too (the ATR is what a high-end production is supposed to be), but any of the above will cause Spydiephoric reactions.

This model hasn't been mentioned yet --

C54 Calypso (full-size)

It has a blade size equivalent to the Endura. It also sports different ergonomics, including an integrated finger choil, from the Endura. The Calypso also has a full-flat grind too.

The problem with this choice, however, is availablity since they are a discontinued model :( . I got a C54BMS (black micarta scales, fully-serrated, VG-10) from John F. Jensen just a few months ago. They are out there, and I'm sure that you could find others still selling them.

Finally, I would also agree with others about the Military -- there is a reason that model endures in the lineup, and why people always talk about it.

Well some good news. After going back with a flashlight I just happened to see a little silver flash and there she was.

I then applied about $65 worth of sharpening and knife care paraphenalia to the $45 knife for an hour and a half :p

But one good thing though... I'd never really thought about the Military for a utility carry. But just after reading about it at spyderco.com I want one now! Curse you Spyderco! :D
