Was driving by one day and had some time to kill so decided to take a short walk through Wolf Road Prairie. This took place in mid Aug. Smaller place where you can quite escape the sounds of the near by roads and sites of the buildings but Prairies are still a great place to look around and fine many things...in my case several flowers.

Sorry no knife pics this time :( I was carrying my Spydie Salt

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Those purple New England Asters are one of my favorite flowers. A harbinger of fall.--KV

Great pics buddy, I'd have a blast there trying to ID all those flowers !

Very cool! Here is a picture of it back in 1939. It was a never finished subdivision. A victim of the Great Depression. I believe the sidewalks are still under the overgrowth. You can pull up a current google image and it still shows these.

One great thing about Chicago's suburbs are the numerous vast forest preserves. Your never far from one!

Thanks for the pics. It looks like an area I hunt, only enlarged.

Cool pics man. I love stopping and walking through open fields like that. Gives me a chance to see what plants are around and see how the local bee population is doing.
