Pretty much without exception, I always loved every creation that I saw by Wolfgang Loerchner. But I'm certainly not alone. I think many consider him to be one of the greatest knife artists of our time. So it was a great pleasure, delight and honor to meet him about three years ago.

Sometime afterward, I was lucky enough to be in a conversation/email exchange with Wolfe which produced an arrangement whereby a dagger would be made. And I'm so thrilled, because that dagger arrived today. The only other time I was so overwhelmed by a knife was when I saw the Warenski Main Gauche for the first time. A very comparable experience, for which one cannot ever prepare.

Here's a single image (sorry for the quality) to give an idea of the dagger's design and beauty - this will be off to Coop for the real thing once he gives me the signal - with his image likely to be posted shortly thereafter. Engraving by Julie Warenski-Erickson.

Looking forward to Coop's image.

Wolf is certainly one of the most elegant knife makers today. Simple elegance. This one is a keeper.

count me in! He's in the top three living makers as far as I'm concerned.
and Julie's work is on par.

Congratulations Bob, I'm VERY happy for you! If ever there was a defining knife for a collector, it seems right to me that this one is for you.

Congrats Bob on a landmark piece

Truly if not the greatest certainly one of the greatest makers out there :)

Congrats Bob - that's a very special addition indeed. Looking forward to the pro shot!

Magnificent my friend!!!!!!!! A spectacular acquisition indeed....:)

Amazing, what an excellent acquisition to an already great collection. Bob, you did good!!

The picture is a beautiful tease with subtle hints of the beauty unseen. I look forward to a more detailed photo.

Thanks for posting things I never see anywhere else.

Here's one other image I was able to capture that is more head-on.

Image removed, to be replaced by pro shot later.

Bob, this will fit nicely with your dagger collection.. The second photo gives us a better look at the carving, engraving, and materials used... As many thousands of knives that J.C. has photographed, I'm sure a brand new knife by Wolfe will inspire him to create an image worthy of this knife... Again, big thumbs up on this very special new dagger.. Best Regards Bob, Rich Slaughter

AWESOME addition to your collection Bob! You have really assembled an exceptional collection.

Looking forward to seeing Coop's pictures.

Peter

Glad everyone is enjoying the images.

Pieces from the collections aren't usually shown anymore, but this is an exception. Wolfe's knives are outstanding artworks. They need to be seen. Praise the artist, not the collector.
