Hello all,
Just letting it be known that I'll be receiving one of these new-old stock American made stock knives. Hoping I didn't pay too too much for it. I remember my dad carrying the 897UH pattern when I was a little boy not all that long ago.
Any information on these knives would be really great  I do have an older Uncle Henry stock knife that I carry from time to time...

Will post pics when it arrives!

Thanks,
Will

Looking forward to your thoughts and some pics, Will.

For whatever reason the Uncle Henry knives don't seem to be in as high of demand as the Old Timers, but in my experience the build quality is the same. The big difference is the steel; Uncle Henry knives were stainless, while the Old Timers are known for their carbon steel blades (although there were stainless Old Timers as well).

Any information on these knives would be really great

A search of the Schrade Collectors forum section will turn up lots of information and pictures.

Thanks for the referral Bob.
Yep, I've had an Old Timer 8OT..the blades took a good edge. I just recently found the pair of 897UH knives from my childhood that my father and I used. A couple of passes over a loaded strop and the edges are slicing very well. The thing that provoked my interest in the beefier 885 pattern is the build of the spey blade. Less pointy tip and more belly, exactly what a spey blade needs.

I'm excited :)

I've handled, bought, and sold about ten different 885UH Uncle Henry knives in the last few years Will, and I can honestly say the one you won tonight is the prettiest one I've owned. It was probably made in 1974 or 1975. The steel is as nice as the handles, and you will find the serial number inside the liners. This one has the factory razor blade finish from the factory. I'm glad you are excited. You did not pay too much. :D

Hey, thanks so much for the post. Trail_hawk...thawk...I should have known.
I hope I don't offend any Schrade collectors; this is going to be a working knife!
