I just received my Waynorth Flat Cap Lambfoot knife and am thoroughly impressed (as always). Charlie's inspiration combined with GEC's execution created another fantastic model!!!
In admiring the unique "Flat Cap" handle jigging, it reminds me of similar bone handle jigging that was done on some old Japanese knives.
Enclosed is a picture comparing the Waynorth Lambfoot to a well-made Japanese folder from the WWII era. Very cool jigging on both knives.
Thanks for producing another great knife Charlie.

I can see it. Japanese has a little bit of a "cougar clawed" thing going on though too, no?

Both beautiful knives! 😍

Congrats Neil and interesting comparison.
Could we see the blade please?

Thanks birdsbeak. Maybe "cougar clawed" or possibly "Samurai Sawcut". :)

Hatchet_Jack, another beauty

Thanks Rufus1949, enclosed is a picture of the Japanese folder. My Japanese language skills are a bit rusty (nonexistent) so I don't know what the blade marking says.
Maybe it translates to "flat cap jigging", but I don't think so. :) I believe it is the name of the maker, and would appreciate a translation if anyone here can read it.

Thanks again Charlie for providing yet another wonderful model that even us vintage collectors love!!!

Thank you kindly for open photo. That is a nice broad blade design.👍🏻

Nice comparison, and great to see this friendship!

That's one of the nicer Japanese knives from that era I have seen, at times that Japanese jig work can get extremely plain - but man that knife Herder is quite spectacular.

Charlie's latest release is awesome.

Thanks Bob and Duncan. Older Japanese folders have a distinctive look for the most part.
Thanks cudgee, all the "flat cap" models I have seen so far have beautiful warm colored handles.
Here is a comparison picture of the first Waynorth Lambfoot next to the new Flat Cap model.
Both are exquisite.

How to be both Rugged & Beautiful

The jigging is also Rope-like or plait. I was pleased that this was continuing the all-steel excellence of its progenitor unlike some of the other SFOs of late. Makes for a tight smooth back.

Neal, the Japanese knife is a really attractive piece, great blade and of course the jigging shows quality and artistry. Even the bolster is tidy (despite my antipathy to excessive brass rising 🤣 )

Thanks, Will

Beautiful example Will, and I agree on all your statements including the less preferred use of brass. But I guess they used what they had at the time.

H herder Agreed, and many are they who revere brass. It could be a knife made soon after the WW2 catastrophe and materials were short? But it equally could be an aesthetic choice  Just love that blade!

I really hope some Japanese speaker will enlighten us about the markings.

Yes Will, it's interesting how wars have not only influenced the types of knives and various cutlery over time, but also the types of materials used.
With the wide audience that views this forum, I'm surprised that no one has not come along to translate those Japanese markings.
