I'm not ever sure where to begin with this amazing auction...

Usually when auctions are written in ALL CAPS with a lot of exclamation marks!!! and a lot of italic underlined text it is a bad sign. This one is no exception.

THIS NEW MODEL IS HARDER THAN THE LAST ONE I RAN OUT OF A MONTH AGO. IT COMES IN ON THE ROCKWELL SCALE AT A STRONG 68!!!!

All I can say is Bwahahahaha!

This isn't a typo because he says:

BUT THE LAST GROUP I SOLD RATED AT ABOUT A 63 + OR - 2, AND THESE NEW ONES RATED EVEN HIGHER!!!!

For those who don't know, these knives are Chuchillo Shark-Tecs. They are simple diver's knives. Aitor, the manufacturer, is a Spanish knife company. These are made in Spain.

THESE KNIVES ARE MADE OF HIGH GRADE 100% AMERICAN 440 SURGICAL STAINLESS STEEL...

THIS IS GOOD OLD FASHIONED AMERICAN STEEL

It gets even better still:

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A KNIFE AS SOLID, STRONG, AND AS VERSATILE AS THIS, EXCEPT FOR A FEW BUCK KNIVES, CASE, AND KERSHAWS, THAT WERE WAY OVERPRICED, SOME OF THEM OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS. THE ONLY KNIVES I HAVE SEEN THAT COME CLOSE ARE CUSTOM MADE S.C.U.B.A., OR SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP (SOG) KNIVES, AND THE PRICES ON THOSE THINGS IS OUTRAGEOUS.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

AND I TRY TO KEEP MY MERCHANDISE 100% AMERICAN MADE!! THESE DAYS IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND SOMETHING THAT IS ALL AMERICAN MADE. THERE ARE COMPONENTS OF THIS KNIFE THAT ARE MADE OVERSEAS, BUT IT IS ALL AMERICAN MATERIAL.

Note that in the auction "100% AMERICAN MADE" is is in red and in a larger font. I seriously doubt that the parts all come from America. He makes it sound like the manufacturer is an American company that's just outsourcing labor.

Oh and it's a

CAMPING UTILITY HUNTING UTILITY MILITARY MARTIAL ARTS TYPE KNIFE

Remember:

NO B.S.

I particularly liked this bit:

ALSO MAKE CUSTOM MADE KNIVES, MANY FOR UNDER $10.00 PER KNIFE, BUT THEY WONT ALLOW ME TO SELL THEM ON E-BAY. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, E-MAIL ME, AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO SEND YOU PICTURES AND PRICES. YOU ALSO HAVE THE OPTION OF ORDERING KNIVES WITH A CUSTOM MADE HANDLE WITH THE INSIGNIA OF YOUR SCHOOL, MILITARY UNIT, POLICE DEPARTMENT, FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION AND MORE. THESE ARE NOT JUNK KNIVES, AS I HAND MAKE EACH ONE TO BE UNIQUE, AND A WORK OF ART, IN ANY COLOR, STYLE AND SIZE YOU CAN IMAGINE. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK!!!

I'll take "Rainbow Wood Handled Frost Pigstickers With A Logo Glued On" for $1,000, Alex.....

This isn't nearly as bad as some other auctions I've seen in other categories. A huge amount of militaria is fake along with many other collectibles. Designer clothes, watches, jewelry, handbags, software, music, you name it...

Used products sold as new, sometimes doctored / enhanced, sometimes the description of condition is way off.

Then there is this sort of misrepresentation. Not just hype, but blatantly false information.

Ebay is really going to hell but I think it will take a strong competitor to get them to clean up their act and do something about these problems. Right now they are close to a monopoly.

Acutally, I don't think ebay could be considered a monopoly, since they don't actually sell anything. Ebay is basically like a bulletin board you see around town with for sale signs stuck to it. But anyhoo... that's beside the point.

There are 1999 of these knives for sale... kinda sounds to me like someone got screwed on 2000 knives and is trying to make ends meet. Or, they got a really good deal on 2000 knives and is trying to screw others (I wouldn't pay $10 for that).

I love how a lot of these cheap knife auctions on ebay and other places try to make these things seem like wonderful deals, and people fall for them. I think it's probably younger people looking for a really cool looking knife, instead of a knife that'll function as anything other than a bendable length of steel.

What I will say for that knife, the handle actually looks fairly comfortable. I wonder how well it's attached to the rest of the knife.

I think I'll pass on this one. But I will add it to my bookmarks because I'm interested to see how many of them actually sell.

A Shark-Tec huh? Anyone got OMEGA DOOM's email address?

BTW, act fast! Only 1999 of them left!

Can anyone get a better knife at $10. I guess for that price almost all knives are the same. CRAP.

Maybe somebody should buy it and give a review of it. hehehehhe

...which, despite its humour factor, should not be in Community.

Moving to Blade Discussion Forum.

I knew a lad who had one of these. For the money they are good. IIRC they use 440A which isn't great but did take a shaving sharp edge and didn't rust even when it wasn't looked after. The handle was ok to use as well.
I don't see why he needs to sell them like that though.

You HAD to say it! I'll never be able to look at a shark or a 'gator again. No more Florida vacations for me.... :(

Looking closer at his other auction "SHARK TEC'S MEAN AND UGLY COUSIN!!!!", (one of 100 that he 'made') I noticed a number on the JPEG, 'HK03047W'. I Googled it. Up comes the link to 'www.cnknife.com'. Predictably 'cn' stands for Chinese. Warning: Do not click into the site as it is very slow and contains Chinese fonts making it an exercise in patience that is not really worth the trouble.
I contacted the seller asking if I could see photos of the shop where he produced these 100 knives (with the knives in various stages of production).
I don't have the patience to contact eBay's fraud department. That is another futile exercise.....

IF YOU ARE NOT A KNIFE PERSON, OR AN AMATEUR, THEN DON'T BUT THIS KNIFE, OR YOU WILL SURELY CUT YOURSELF.

The mean and nasty cousin- looks like a Hibben knock off? Maybe a "Kit Rae"?

Sorry guys- these babies are going home with me! :p

I was under the impression that Aitor actually makes decent knives; no top notch stuff or anything but reasonably good knives, given the combination of materials used (Spanish manufacturers seem to love 440C SS).

"I also check the zytel sheath for any frays, and make sure it is in A1 condition before it goes into the package."

Zytel can fray?...

SERIOUSLY, THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTORS PIECE, AND YOU WOULD JUST RUIN THIS THING BY HACKING DOWN A TREE, OR TOSSING IT AROUND. THIS IS ONE YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO DISPLAY. IF YOU ARE NOT THE DISPLAY OR COLLECTOR TYPE, GO FOR IT AND USE THE HECK OUT OF THIS THING, AS IT WAS BUILT TO TAKE EVERYTHING YOU CAN DISH OUT.

First he say's that you'll ruin the knife if you use it and then says it can stand up to anything you can do to it. I think this guy is a bit confused.
